McNees is actively seeking a Payroll Administrator to play a crucial role in ensuring our employees are paid correctly and on time - all while maintaining compliance and supporting key operational processes.

What You’ll Do

As a Payroll Administrator, you’ll manage the full payroll cycle and serve as the go-to expert for payroll compliance and reporting. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Preparing and processing payroll on a semi-monthly schedule, verifying timesheets, and calculating wages, overtime, bonuses, and deductions.
  • Collaborating with the Accounting Manager for dual control of payroll processing.
  • Staying current on federal, state, and local payroll regulations to ensure tax and legal compliance.
  • Maintaining accurate and confidential payroll records, including employee data, tax documents, and benefits information.
  • Resolving employee inquiries related to paychecks, deductions, and payroll issues promptly.
  • Preparing and distributing payroll reports for management and other stakeholders.
  • Coordinating with the Benefits Specialist to ensure accurate deductions and contributions for health insurance, retirement plans, and PTO.
  • Supporting annual compliance tasks such as attorney bar registrations and notary renewals.
  • Generating monthly, quarterly, and annual reports for People Operations and external requests.
  • Partnering with Professional Development to provide payroll-related training and compliance insights.


What We’re Looking For

  • Associate or Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field.
  • At least 5 years of payroll processing experience; law firm or professional services industry experience is a plus.
  • Professional certification preferred (FPC or CPP).
  • Payroll Expertise: Deep understanding of payroll regulations, taxes, and processes.
  • Tech Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel; strong data entry and analysis skills.
  • Detail-Oriented: Exceptional accuracy and organizational skills to prevent errors.
  • Problem Solver: Analytical mindset with excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Professional & Confidential: Ability to maintain discretion and professionalism at all times.
