Payroll and Benefits Manager

The Payroll and Benefits Manager is a full-time position that is responsible for the management and execution of payroll processes and systems, administering the company’s benefit plans, and negotiating with 3rd party vendors and providers to ensure best-in-class benefits coverage. This position is also a lead administrator of the company’s HCM and responsible for ensuring accurate data in our systems.

Work Requirements

  • Implement, maintain, and review payroll processing systems to ensure timely and accurate processing of payroll transactions including salaries, benefits, garnishments, taxes, and other deductions
  • Ensure accurate and timely processing of payroll updates including new hires, terminations, and changes to pay rates
  • Prepare and maintain accurate records and reports of payroll transactions
  • Collaborate with the Human Resources department to ensure processing of payroll changes within the database and compliance with company policies relating to payroll
  • Assist Finance with month-end processes through preparation, review, and posting of payroll and time off accruals
  • Review all Federal and State payroll tax filings for accuracy, including but not limited to W-2 forms and ACA filings
  • Administer company benefits programs including enrolling new employees, personnel changes, terminating, and reconciling monthly billing. Code all benefits invoices and verify allocations remain current. Review, approve, and post weekly claims funding.
  • Lead the annual open enrollment process for employee benefits
  • Assist with administrative duties of the 401(k)-plan including funding, testing, audits, and committee
  • Proficient knowledge of government regulations applicable to compensation and benefit programs (EEOC, OSHA, FMLA, ERISA, ADA, etc.) and the standard filings required by the Department of Labor, IRS, Unemployment systems
  • Engage with the HR Team as a member of HR Management, supporting special events and filling management shifts as needed.
  • Manage all leave processes, including all types of PTO, FMLA, parental, military, and personal
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant federal, state, and local employment laws and statutes
  • Maintain all data in the Company’s HCM
  • Actively participate in HR Team events such as meetings, luncheons, trainings, and employee events
  • Utilize compensation philosophy and data to drive organizational decisions
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Accounting, or equivalent work experience
  • PHR or SHRM-CP Certification preferred, or willing to pursue Certification
  • Experience with Paylocity or UKG HCM systems preferred
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in Human Resources with a proficiency in Payroll and Benefits
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and ability to learn new software programs
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in the English language
  • Highly detail-oriented and able to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to work cross functionally with all levels of employees and management
  • Ability to speak to large groups of people
  • Excellent planning and organizational skills
  • Willingness to travel overnight to attend and participate in seminars, meetings, and conferences out of town
  • Ability to work full-time
  • Acceptable pre-employment drug screen and background check

Working Conditions

This position operates in a pleasant office setting and attends meetings, leads training sessions, and oversee activities taking place in other parts of the office. While in office, this position consistently utilizes various equipment such as phones, computers, filing cabinets, computers, and fax machines. This role has a medium to high level of social interaction and must demonstrate collaborative teamwork skills. This position must work some nights, weekends, and holidays, and should be prepared to respond to unplanned and/or emergency work.

This is a full-time position and regularly requires long hours and frequent weekend work, especially during the operating season.
