Job Summary
The Payroll and Benefits Specialist is responsible for accurately processing payroll and administering employee benefits programs. This role ensures compliance with all applicable laws and regulations, maintains employee records, and serves as a key point of contact for payroll and benefits-related inquiries
Key Responsibilities
Payroll Administration
- Process bi-weekly and off-cycle payrolls accurately and on time
- Maintain and update payroll records, including earnings, deductions, and tax information
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll laws and regulations
- Reconcile payroll discrepancies and resolve employee payroll issues
- Prepare and submit both quarterly and annual payroll tax filings and reports
- Coordinate with accounting for payroll-related journal entries and audits
Benefits Administration
- Administer employee benefits programs such as health insurance, retirement plans, and leave policies
- Manage employee enrollment, changes, and terminations in benefits systems
- Assist employees with benefits-related questions and claims resolution
- Ensure compliance with benefits regulations (e.g., ACA, COBRA, ERISA)
Compliance & Reporting
- Maintain accurate employee records and ensure data integrity in HRIS/payroll systems
- Prepare reports related to payroll, benefits, and workforce data
- Stay current on changes in payroll and benefits laws and regulations
Employee Support
- Respond to employee inquiries regarding pay, deductions, and benefits
- Administration of employee-focused programs through HRIS
- Maintain confidentiality of sensitive employee information
Qualifications
- Education & Experience
- Associate’s Degree in Human Resources, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- 2–5 years of experience in payroll and/or benefits administration
- Skills & Competencies
- Strong knowledge of payroll systems and HRIS platforms. Experience with Paylocity and Employee Navigator preferred
- Understanding of state and local taxes, PA payroll taxes and benefits regulations is required
- High attention to detail and accuracy
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and payroll software
Pay: $25.00 - $33.00 per hour
