Payroll Specialist

Position Summary

We are seeking a detail oriented and tech savvy Payroll Specialist to join our collaborative team and support full cycle payroll operations across multiple states. This role ensures accurate and timely pay, proper tax and deduction processing, and strong compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. You will partner with HR, Finance, and operations to manage complex payroll matters, including multi state taxation, garnishments, and California county rate structures, while delivering responsive, solutions focused service to employees and internal partners. The ideal candidate combines payroll expertise with strong systems knowledge, is comfortable working in a remote environment across multiple platforms, and approaches payroll with a customer service mindset. Success in this role requires precision, sound judgment, technical confidence, and the ability to remain organized and composed during high volume payroll cycles.

Key Responsibilities

  • Process payroll accurately and on time using Paycom
  • Maintain compliant and up to date employee records in the HRIS
  • Serve as a payroll resource for employee questions and issue resolution
  • Manage payroll related data entry, benefits deductions, and reporting
  • Research and resolve payroll discrepancies in a timely and professional manner
  • Support multi state tax compliance and related documentation
  • Perform reconciliations, journal entries, and general ledger support
  • Identify opportunities to improve system efficiency and payroll processes

Required Skills

  • Knowledge of accounting principles and multi state payroll compliance
  • Experience with payroll systems, Paycom preferred
  • Strong technical aptitude and comfort navigating multiple software platforms
  • Stay tuned in and responsive in a remote environment
  • Comfortable using Outlook and Microsoft Teams across desktop and mobile
  • High attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
  • Strong troubleshooting and systems problem-solving skills
  • Ability to manage bursts of high-volume workloads while maintaining service standards
  • Strong communication skills with a client focused approach

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $70,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year
