    Primary Function:
    Assures the smooth and efficient operation of a well-organized payroll office in a friendly and professional manner. Maintains accurate and updated records necessary for prompt and accurate handling of all payroll matters and local, state and federal reporting.
    Requirements:
    Educational Level: High School Diploma required; Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business, or a related field preferred. Prior experience in payroll processing is preferred, including experience supporting payroll operations for an organization with 50 or more employees. Knowledge of general office practices and governmental accounting is also preferred.
    Proficiency Skills: Written and oral communication skills, ability to operate office machinery and deal with multiple tasks, computer competence, typing and proof reading skills.
    Personal Skills: Pleasant personality, cooperative attitude, physical skills and stamina to perform essential duties.
    Proficiency in Microsoft office and Excel is required.
    Salary: CCSS Classified Salary Schedule A14, 12 months $17.23 to $27.60 depending on experience. Steps on the classified salary schedule are awarded based on verifiable full-time experience, as documented on employer letterhead, which includes dates of employment, job title, and duties.     GENERAL

    12.Demonstrates proficiency in drafting written correspondence, answers correspondence received by and on behalf of the supervisor as requested.

    14.Receives and returns telephone calls on behalf of the supervisor as requested using high standards of telephone techniques.
    15.Greets visitors in a courteous and professional manner; provides information and handles routine business associated with a busy, productive and smoothly run office.

    17.Complies with school, system, state and federal regulations and policies, including the PSC Code of Ethics, as related to job requirements.

    24.Training under the supervision of the payroll officer in all payroll functions.
    25.Calculates and reconciles all payrolls.
    26.Prints, sorts and distributes all payroll checks.
    27.Assists employees with payroll and retirement questions.
    28.Prepares and reports all quarterly and annually state, federal, and other agency returns such as taxes, TRS, W2, 941, etc.
    29.Works with school payroll personnel to ensure proper crediting of timesheets and overtime.
    30.Calculates and processes deduction payments to appropriate vendors. Garnishments
    31.Oversees the maintenance of payroll files.
    32.Preforms all duties in a timely and accurate manner.
    33.Demonstrates loyalty to the school, school system and administrators.
    34.Enhances the climate of the building and the morale of colleagues.
    35.Performs all other duties that may be assigned and or as requested
