Payroll/HR Specialist

Position Summary

The Payroll / HR Specialist is responsible for independently managing and processing full-cycle payroll while supporting core human resources functions. This role requires a high level of accuracy, confidentiality, and the ability to operate autonomously in a fast-paced construction environment with both field and office employees.

This position is 100% in-office and requires a self-sufficient professional who can own payroll operations from start to finish with minimal oversight.

Key Responsibilities

Payroll (Primary Function)

  • Independently process full-cycle payroll (weekly) for field and office employees
  • Accurately calculate:
  • Regular and overtime hours
  • Bonuses, deductions, and reimbursements
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local wage & hour laws
  • Process wage garnishments, child support, and tax levies
  • Maintain payroll records, audit reports, and resolve discrepancies
  • Coordinate with accounting for payroll journal entries and reconciliations
  • Administer timekeeping systems and ensure accurate time approvals
  • Handle payroll-related employee inquiries professionally and promptly

Human Resources Support

  • Assist with onboarding processes (new hire entry, documentation, I-9 compliance)
  • Maintain employee records and personnel files
  • Support benefits administration and employee changes
  • Help enforce company policies and procedures
  • Provide general HR support to field and office teams

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of full-cycle payroll processing experience (REQUIRED)
  • Bilingual in English & Spanish (REQUIRED)
  • Must be able to run payroll independently without supervision
  • Experience with payroll systems (e.g., ADP Workforce Now preferred)
  • Strong understanding of payroll taxes, deductions, and compliance
  • High attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel

Pay: From $75,000.00 per year
