Petrol Mechanic / Engine Technician (Light to Medium Equipment) - SAMCO Rental

The Role: We are seeking a qualified and experienced Petrol Mechanic/Engine Technician to specialize in the maintenance, diagnosis, and repair of petrol (gasoline) engines within our rental fleet. You will be responsible for ensuring all equipment is safe, reliable, and available for client rental.

Key Responsibilities:

• Diagnosis and Repair: Perform accurate diagnosis and complete repairs on a variety of petrol engines, primarily found in light to medium rental equipment (e.g., generators, pumps, plate compactors, lawnmowers, small vehicles, etc.).
• Preventive Maintenance: Execute routine and scheduled maintenance tasks, including oil changes, tune-ups, filter replacements, and spark plug checks, following manufacturer specifications.
• Troubleshooting: Diagnose and fix issues related to carburetors, fuel injection systems, ignition systems, electrical components, and cooling systems.
• Testing and Quality Control: Test all repaired equipment under load to ensure optimal performance and safety compliance before handing it over to the yard/storekeeping team.
• Documentation: Accurately record all services performed, parts used, and time spent on repair and maintenance orders.
• Safety Compliance: Adhere to all workshop safety procedures and standards when handling fuels, tools, and heavy components.

Qualifications:

• Minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience as a Petrol Mechanic, Engine Technician, or Small Engine Repair Technician.
• Proven expertise in the repair and maintenance of 4-stroke and 2-stroke gasoline engines.
• Technical qualification or certification in Automotive Technology, Mechanical Maintenance, or equivalent.
• Strong knowledge of diagnostic tools and troubleshooting techniques for common engine faults.
• Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics.
