Job Purpose:

To ensure compliance with the Drug Act 1976, DRAP regulations, and Provincial Health Department requirements by managing pharmaceutical operations, safe storage, dispensing, and record-keeping of all medicines within the facility.

Key Responsibilities (Regulatory Focus):

• Ensure availability of a valid Pharmacy License and compliance with all legal requirements
• Supervise and manage pharmacy operations in accordance with Drug Regulatory Authority of Pakistan guidelines
• Maintain proper purchase, sale, and stock registers as required under the Drug Act 1976
• Ensure medicines are procured only from licensed distributors / authorized sources
• Monitor and record batch numbers, expiry dates, and storage conditions
• Ensure controlled drugs (if any) are stored, recorded, and dispensed as per legal requirements
• Maintain temperature logs (especially for sensitive medicines like iron chelation therapies)
• Facilitate inspections by Drug Inspector and ensure compliance at all times
• Prevent dispensing of expired, substandard, or unregistered medicines
• Ensure proper labeling, packaging, and patient instructions
• Maintain documentation for audit and legal verification

Clinical & Operational Responsibilities:

• Dispense medicines as per valid prescription by a registered medical practitioner
• Coordinate with doctors regarding thalassemia treatment protocols
• Guide patients/attendants on dosage, side effects, and adherence
• Maintain minimum stock levels to avoid treatment disruption
• Prepare monthly consumption and stock reports

Qualification & Licensing Requirements:

• Pharm-D / B-Pharmacy from a recognized institution
• ⁠ Valid registration with Pharmacy Council of Pakistan

Must fulfill requirements to be appointed as Pharmacist on Record for pharmacy license

Experience: Minimum 1-2 years hospital/NGO preferred)

Compliance Requirements (Critical):

• Pharmacist must be physically present as per regulatory requirements
• License cannot be used simultaneously at another facility
• Any change in pharmacist must be reported to relevant authority immediately
• Responsible for ensuring full compliance during inspections
