Job Description

  • Provide accurate and relevant information to patients regarding their medications, including dosage, side effects, storage, and potential drug interactions.
  • Ensure patients understand the importance of medication adherence and address any medication-related questions or concerns.
  • Accurately interpret, process, and dispense prescriptions received from healthcare providers in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Ensure the correct medication, dosage, quantity, and labeling are provided to each patient.
  • Review prescriptions for potential issues such as allergies, drug interactions, contraindications, or dosing errors.
  • Consult with the Pharmacist to resolve concerns and recommend appropriate alternative therapies when required.
  • Document all clinical interventions and communicate relevant information to patients and healthcare providers.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable pharmacy regulations, guidelines, and best practices to maintain patient safety and service quality.
  • Participate in regular reviews and updates of pharmacy policies and procedures to minimize risks and improve operations.
  • Support quality improvement initiatives and collaborate with healthcare professionals to enhance patient care outcomes.
  • Accurately enter, update, and maintain patient prescription data in the pharmacy management system.
  • Ensure correct posting and device entry for medications and medical supplies.
  • Generate reports and analyze data to support operational decision-making and performance improvement.
  • Monitor and maintain optimal inventory levels of medications and pharmacy supplies.
  • Implement inventory control measures to reduce waste, prevent stockouts, and identify near-expiry or non-moving stock.
  • Communicate inventory requirements and concerns to the immediate supervisor and assist in developing solutions.
  • Ensure proper medication placement, storage conditions, and temperature control to maintain product efficacy and safety.
  • Receive incoming shipments of medications and medical devices, verifying accuracy, quantity, and condition.
  • Inspect shipments for damage or discrepancies and promptly report issues to the supervisor.
  • Update inventory records and ensure accurate documentation of received items.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and hygienic pharmacy environment free from dust and clutter.
  • Regularly inspect storage areas, shelves, and equipment to ensure they are functional and compliant with standards.
  • Enforce strict hygiene and infection control protocols to prevent contamination.
  • Analyze medication consumption trends and collaborate with healthcare providers to forecast monthly demand.
  • Prepare and submit accurate monthly demand forecasts to the warehouse to ensure uninterrupted pharmacy operations, allowing for unexpected patient load or consumption changes.
  • Notify the purchasing department in advance when stock levels are approaching minimum thresholds to avoid shortages.
  • Assist with the safe movement of medical supplies within the warehouse using appropriate equipment such as pallet jacks.
  • Follow standard operating procedures for loading, unloading, and transporting goods.
  • Adhere to special handling requirements for LASA, high-alert, flammable, fragile, and temperature-sensitive items.
  • Use personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
  • Conduct regular self-audits to verify physical and electronic stock accuracy, including batch numbers, expiry dates, quantities, and storage conditions.
  • Submit audit reports to the line manager highlighting near-expiry items, dead stock, and non-moving inventory for effective utilization.
  • Prepare and share inventory and prescription trend reports with the Pharmacist, supported by evidence-based consumption data.
  • Assist with seasonal inventory planning and demand forecasting.
  • Coordinate with supply chain teams for the return or replacement of expired, damaged, or defective items.
  • Prepare and present KPIs to the Assistant Manager and Clinical Services team.
  • Perform any additional tasks or responsibilities as assigned by management.
