Job Summary
The Procurement Assistant provides essential support to the Procurement Coordinator in the day-to-day functioning of ASUA’s procurement operations. This role requires strong attention to detail, organization, and flexibility, as daily tasks may vary significantly. The Procurement Assistant will help ensure the accurate receipt, organization, and distribution of goods while supporting the educational and workplace growth of students in a special education setting.
Certifications and Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Current (dated within a year) Act 34, 114, and 151 clearances
Essential DutiesAdministrative Support
- Assist the Procurement Coordinator with administrative tasks such as data entry, filing, system updates, and communications.
- Communicate with delivery drivers and vendors to confirm and ensure correct delivery.
- Provide information and updates to the Procurement Coordinator regarding inventory and supply needs.
- Uphold ASUA’s policies, procedures, and standards of ethics and confidentiality.
Procurement & Logistics
- Assist with package unpacking, sorting, storing, and delivering throughout ASUA facilities.
- Carry items throughout ASUA buildings, including up and down stairs.
- Support inventory organization and tracking processes.
- Use equipment safely and appropriately, including hand trucks, hand forklifts, box cutters, and other materials-handling tools.
- Ensure efficiency and safety when loading and unloading vehicles for transporting deliveries.
- Help maintain accurate records of supplies and materials.

- Comfortable driving various vehicles, including large vans and box trucks
- Comfortable using equipment such as hand forklifts, hand trucks, and box cutters

- Proficient in computer use; Airtable knowledge a plus
- Comfortable working and communicating alongside individuals with various disabilities
- Comfortable working in a special education school setting and supporting students’ educational and workplace growth

- To attend all mandatory meetings, including those that fall outside of regularly scheduled school hours and as described in the Employee Handbook
- Adhere to A Step Up Academy’s policies, procedures, and methodologies

Organizational Relationships & Supervisory Responsibilities
- Directly accountable to the supervisor listed above and, in the absence of that individual, to the Chief Executive Officer.
- This position does not have direct reports.

- Moderate degree of physical stamina, with frequent lifting of up to 25 pounds and the possibility of lifting and/or carrying up to 50 pounds

- Moving light furniture may be required
- Adequate vision and hearing ability for monitoring the verbal and non-verbal responses of students
- May require driving school vehicles operated under a standard driver’s license
- Exposure to noise and activity of a special needs school setting
- May involve exposure to communicable diseases and other adverse conditions
- Knowledge of universal hygiene precautions
Equipment/Material Handled
The individual in this position shall be assigned a variety of resources and materials which are to be appropriately stored and accounted for. All media resources and borrowed material are to be judiciously used, and are to be maintained in a reasonably unsoiled and non- damaged fashion. Must know how to properly operate or be willing to learn to operate all multimedia equipment including current technology.
