Procurement Engineer

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Procurement Engineer with a strong background in structural steel projects. The candidate will be responsible for sourcing, negotiating, purchasing, and coordinating materials and subcontract services related to structural steel fabrication and erection projects. The role requires technical understanding, commercial awareness, and effective supplier management to ensure timely and cost-effective procurement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Handle procurement activities for structural steel materials, fabrication, and erection requirements.
  • Source and evaluate suppliers, subcontractors, and vendors for steel structures and related materials.
  • Prepare and issue RFQs (Request for Quotations), analyze quotations, and negotiate pricing and commercial terms.
  • Coordinate with engineering, estimation, QA/QC, and project teams for technical specifications and procurement schedules.
  • Procure raw materials including structural steel sections, plates, pipes, bolts, welding consumables, and related accessories.
  • Ensure purchased materials comply with project specifications, standards, and approved drawings.
  • Monitor material delivery schedules and coordinate logistics to meet project timelines.
  • Develop and maintain supplier databases and evaluate vendor performance.
  • Review contracts, purchase orders, and technical documents before issuance.
  • Track market trends, steel prices, and supplier performance to optimize procurement costs.
  • Resolve procurement-related issues including delays, shortages, and quality concerns.
  • Ensure compliance with company procurement policies and HSE requirements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or related field.
  • Minimum 3–7 years of procurement experience in structural steel fabrication or construction industry.
  • Strong knowledge of structural steel materials, fabrication processes, and erection activities.
  • Experience in handling local and international suppliers.
  • Familiarity with ASTM, BS, EN, and other relevant steel standards.
  • Good understanding of technical drawings and material specifications.
  • Proficiency in ERP systems and MS Office applications.
  • Strong negotiation, communication, and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Preferred Qualifications

  • GCC/UAE experience in structural steel projects.
  • Existing supplier/vendor network in the steel industry.
  • Experience with large-scale industrial, commercial, or infrastructure projects.

Pay: AED6,000.00 - AED8,000.00 per hour
