About the Role – Procurement Engineer (Civil) – ID Research

The Procurement Engineer (Civil) – ID Research is a niche role focused on researching, benchmarking, and identifying interior design (ID) materials and finishes that align with project design intent, quality standards, and budget requirements. This role bridges design, procurement, and commercial teams , enabling informed material selection and supplier recommendations before bulk ordering.

You will play a critical role in material innovation, global sourcing intelligence, and value engineering for interior finishes across multiple projects.


Key Responsibilities

ID Material Research & Benchmarking

  • Conduct market research on interior finishing materials including tiles, marble, stone, wood, veneer, laminates, joinery, glass, metal finishes, paint, sanitary ware, fittings, and hardware
  • Identify new materials, suppliers, finishes, and technologies aligned with design intent and project budgets
  • Benchmark materials based on cost, quality, durability, availability, lead times, and sustainability
  • Track global trends and innovations in interior design and finishing materials

Design & Procurement Coordination

  • Work closely with ID designers, architects, and consultants to understand design concepts and material requirements
  • Support preparation and review of material boards, mock-ups, and sample approvals
  • Assist in finalizing material specifications and approved vendor lists
  • Provide cost data and feasibility inputs during design development and value engineering stages

Commercial & Documentation Support

  • Support procurement teams with cost estimates, supplier comparisons, and lead-time analysis
  • Assist in preparing material submittals, technical data sheets, and approval documentation
  • Maintain a structured material library, supplier database, and cost benchmarks
  • Ensure research outputs align with company procurement policies and quality standards


Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Architecture, or Interior Design
  • 4–8 years of experience in civil procurement, interior fit-out, or material research roles
  • Strong exposure to ID finishes and interior construction materials
  • Experience working with design teams, consultants, or interior fit-out contractors is preferred
  • UAE / GCC market experience is an advantage


Required Skills & Competencies

  • Strong knowledge of interior finishing materials and construction applications
  • Ability to interpret design drawings, specifications, and BOQs
  • Excellent research, benchmarking, and analytical skills
  • Strong coordination skills to work across design, procurement, and commercial teams
  • Cost-conscious mindset with focus on value engineering and feasibility
  • Proficiency in MS Excel, presentations, and material tracking tools
  • Detail-oriented with strong documentation and follow-up skills
