Location: KEPZ Landhi - Karachi
Industry: Garments Manufacturing / Textile Exports (PPE & Leather Goods)
Reports To: General Manager / CEO
The Role
We are seeking a strategic and detail-oriented Procurement Manager to oversee the entire purchasing lifecycle. You will be responsible for sourcing everything from woven fabrics, knits, and non-woven materials to leather hides, threads, fasteners, and chemical treatments used in glove manufacturing. Your primary goal is to ensure zero production delays by maintaining optimal inventory levels and supplier relationships.
Key Responsibilities
1. Strategic Sourcing & Vendor Management
- Identify, evaluate, and establish relationships with reliable suppliers for PPE fabrics (e.g., SMS, SMMS, microporous film) and leather glove materials (cowhide, goatskin, pigskin, and synthetic leather).
- Negotiate contracts, payment terms, and pricing to reduce total landed costs while maintaining quality.
- Conduct regular supplier audits to ensure compliance with international labor and environmental standards (e.g., BSCI, SEDEX).
2. Procurement Operations
- Manage the end-to-end procurement process based on production schedules and sales forecasts.
- Source trims and accessories: zippers, elastic bands, PVC/Silicone coatings, foam padding, and hook & loop fasteners.
- Ensure timely procurement of finishing chemicals and dyes required for leather treatment and fabric processing.
3. Quality Assurance
- Coordinate with the Quality Control department to inspect raw materials upon arrival (e.g., fabric GSM checks, leather thickness, tensile strength).
- Resolve issues related to defective materials with suppliers (claims/replacements).
4. Inventory & Logistics
- Maintain optimal inventory levels to avoid overstocking or stock-outs, specifically for niche items like flame-retardant threads or specific leather grades.
- Coordinate with logistics partners to ensure timely clearance and delivery of imported raw materials.
5. Market Intelligence
- Keep abreast of global market trends, price fluctuations in cotton/polyester, and hide markets.
- Advise management on cost-saving alternatives without compromising on safety standards (CE/ANSI certifications).
Qualifications & Requirements
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or Textile Engineering. An MBA or Professional Certification (CIPS/CSCP) is a plus.
- Experience: Minimum 5-7 years of procurement experience in the Garments/Textile sector, with at least 2 years specifically handling PPE or Workwear/Leather products.
Technical Knowledge:
- Deep understanding of fabric construction (woven vs. non-woven) and leather grading
- Proficiency in ERP systems and Microsoft Office (Excel expertise required).
- Skills: Strong negotiation, analytical thinking, and problem-solving skills. Ability to thrive in a fast-paced export environment.
