Job Title: Procurement Officer

Job Description

Procurement Officer with extensive experience in the defense and humanitarian support sectors. The successful candidate will be responsible for sourcing, purchasing, and managing the procurement of goods and services critical to our operations. This role supports projects with UN agencies and U.S. defense partners, requiring a strong understanding of procurement processes, regulatory compliance, and supplier management. The Procurement Officer will play a key role in ensuring the timely, cost-effective, and compliant supply of materials and services.

Key Responsibilities

Sourcing and Procurement:

Identify reliable suppliers.

· Evaluate and negotiate terms, conditions, and pricing agreements.

· Ensure the timely procurement of materials, equipment, and services to meet project and operational needs.

· Supplier Relationship Management:

· Build and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers and subcontractors.

· Monitor supplier performance, including quality, delivery, and compliance with contracts.

· Resolve any issues or disputes with suppliers in a timely and effective manner.

· Cost Control and Budgeting:

· Collaborate with the finance team to establish and manage budgets for procurement activities.

· Implement cost-saving strategies and seek opportunities to optimize procurement processes.

Compliance and Regulations:

· Ensure compliance with industry-specific regulations, standards, and safety requirements.

· Stay updated on industry trends, regulations, and best practices.

Risk Assessment and Mitigation:

· Identify potential risks in the supply chain and develop risk mitigation strategies.

· Continuously monitor market conditions and geopolitical factors that may impact procurement.

Market Research and Analysis:

· Conduct market research to identify new suppliers, products, and technologies.

· Analyze market trends and conditions to make informed procurement decisions.

Documentation and Reporting:

· Maintain accurate procurement records and documentation.

· Prepare regular reports on procurement activities, cost analysis, and supplier performance.

· Cross-Functional Collaboration:

Collaborate with internal departments, including operations, engineering, and project management, to understand their procurement needs.

· Ensure alignment between procurement and organizational objectives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in procurement within defense and/or humanitarian support environments
  • Knowledge of procurement requirements for UN agencies and U.S. defense contractors
  • Strong negotiation, communication, and organizational skills
  • High attention to detail and ability to work under pressure
  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in procurement software and tools.
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to make data-driven decisions.
  • Detail-oriented and organized, with strong problem-solving abilities.
  • Familiarity with international procurement and import/export regulations is a plus.
