Production Planning Engineer

Job Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Production Planning Engineer to manage and optimize production planning activities in our aluminium profile manufacturing plant. The role is responsible for ensuring efficient production scheduling, material planning, capacity utilization, and on-time delivery while maintaining quality and cost targets.

Key Responsibilities

1. Production Planning & Scheduling

• Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly production plans based on customer orders and forecasts.
• Develop extrusion press-wise production schedules.
• Coordinate with Sales and Dispatch teams to align production with delivery commitments.
• Optimize machine loading and manpower allocation.

2. Material Requirement Planning (MRP)

• Plan billet requirements based on extrusion orders.
• Monitor raw material stock levels (billets, dies, packaging materials).
• Coordinate with Purchase and Stores to avoid material shortages.

3. Process Coordination

• Work closely with:
• Die shop
• Extrusion department
• Powder coating / Anodizing
• Fabrication
• Quality Control
• Ensure smooth workflow between departments.

4. Inventory & WIP Control

• Monitor Work-in-Progress (WIP) at each stage.
• Minimize scrap, rework, and idle time.
• Track production efficiency and recovery rates.

5. Capacity & Performance Analysis

• Analyze press capacity and productivity.
• Monitor OEE (Overall Equipment Effectiveness).
• Identify bottlenecks and propose corrective actions.

6. Reporting & Documentation

• Maintain daily production reports.
• Track order status and delivery timelines.
• Prepare MIS reports for management review.
• Maintain ERP data accuracy.

7. Continuous Improvement

• Implement lean manufacturing principles.
• Improve production lead time.
• Support cost reduction initiatives.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical / Production / Industrial Engineering.
• 1–3 years of experience in aluminium extrusion or metal manufacturing industry.
• Strong knowledge of production planning and control (PPC).
• Familiarity with ERP/MRP systems.
• Good understanding of extrusion processes, dies, and surface finishing.
