Position Overview:
Girl Scouts of Middle Tennessee (GSMT) is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization serving nearly 11,000 girls across 39 counties. As part of a national organization, GSMT provides girls with opportunities to develop leadership skills and explore interests in STEM, the outdoors, entrepreneurship, and civic engagement. Our programs are designed to be girl-led, community-centered, and focused on building a generation of girls who are courageous, confident, and make the world a better place.
We are seeking a detail-oriented, creative, and collaborative Program Communications Specialist to support GSMT’s marketing and communication efforts across Council programs and initiatives. This role is responsible for producing content and design that strengthens participation in Girl Scout programs, enhances brand consistency, and supports engagement across the Council’s community of girls, volunteers, families, and staff.
Reporting to the Marketing & Branding Manager, the Program Communications Specialist plays a key role in supporting the organization’s broader brand and engagement strategy by providing communications support to internal teams leading mission delivery programs, activities, and events.

Responsibilities: The Program Communications Specialist is responsible for:
Program-Level Marketing & Content Development
- Support execution of GSMT’s broader marketing and communications strategy by producing high-quality content aligned with organizational priorities.
- Ensure brand and messaging consistency of programmatic materials and communications across all channels and departments.
- Develop and maintain a programmatic communications calendar to drive proactive priority-setting and team request coordination.
- Create program marketing and communications content that promotes visibility, increases participation, and elevates brand visibility across all areas of the organization, including camp and property, retail, member recruitment, service units, volunteer engagement, and programmatic events.
- Develop both digital and print collateral (e.g., flyers, social graphics, signage) that drives awareness, interest, and engagement at the program level.
- Support the Marketing & Branding Manager with other priorities as needed, including execution of org-level marketing and engagement strategies.
Brand Standards & Resource Development
- Collaborate closely with the Marketing & Branding Manager to enforce branding and communications standards across teams, developing and maintaining templates, resources, and internal guidelines to support "DIY" use across departments.
- Provide light training and guidance to equip staff to produce consistent, on-brand communications and materials independently when needed.
- Serve as the point of contact for program-related communication requests, prioritizing needs, managing expectations, and supporting teams across the organization.
Education, Experience, & Job Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, graphic design, or a related field
- 1–3 years of experience in a communications, marketing, or design support role
- Experience creating content for a variety of channels including email, print, and social media
- Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, InDesign), Canva, Meta Business Suite, JotForm, Microsoft Office, and basic web tools (e.g., CMS platforms, HTML/CSS)
- Familiarity with youth development programs, nonprofit environments, or the Girl Scout mission a plus
- Current valid drivers’ license, proof of vehicle insurance, transportation availability, and ability to pass a criminal background check (including a motor vehicle report).

Pay: $40,000.00 - $48,000.00 per year
