WHO WE ARE
The Montgomery County Police Department (MCPD) is made up of approximately 1,300 sworn officers and approximately 650 support personnel. The Police Department was established in 1922, and today is responsible for providing service to a County with a population of over one million people.
WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR
The Montgomery County Department of Police Recruitment Section, within the Personnel Division is seeking a creative and motivated Social Media Specialist to join our team. This employee will manage the Recruitment Section’s social media presence, create engaging digital content, and support recruitment efforts by highlighting career opportunities in law enforcement. This employee will act as an official spokesperson for the department on social media and may work as a liaison between the police department and the community, working to increase recruiting, foster positive relationships, and provide timely information, transparency and bolster interaction and engagement. The employee will work directly with the Recruitment Team, working to promote the department, engage the community, and attract qualified applicants.
Produce high-quality multimedia content, including graphics, videos, and live-streaming events
Create content for social media platforms that align with the department’s goals (create multimedia content such as photos, videos, graphics, infographics, written posts, reels, stories, etc., to engage the community and promote department initiatives)
Create flyers and signage
Develop and implement a comprehensive social media strategy to enhance public engagement and awareness and achieve department goals (ensure all content aligns with the department’s branding and communication guidelines)
Manage daily postings and interact across all social media platforms; monitor and respond to comments, questions, and messages from the public on social media platforms in a timely fashion and foster positive engagements with users across all channels
Monitor social media trends and analyze engagement metrics to optimize content and strategy
Help the Recruitment Team with marketing and attending job fairs and local events
Run advertising campaigns utilizing social media ad
Experience: Two (2) years of professional experience managing social media for a public agency, government agency, or corporate brand.
Education: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's Degree in Communications, Journalism, Digital Media or a related field.
Equivalency: An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted.
Experience with Social Media Management (platforms: Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, TikTok).
Experience in graphic design and video editing software.
Experience managing and drafting social media content in a public safety setting.
Experience with photo editing and video creation (utilizing apps such as Canva/Photoshop/iMovie/and others)
