Position Overview

Reporting to the Finance Manager, the Project Accountant is responsible for managing financial operations related to specific projects. This role plays a crucial part in tracking project costs, ensuring budget compliance, and supporting financial reporting. The ideal candidate has strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively with project managers and external stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

•Track project-specific costs and ensure financial data aligns with budgets.

•Assist in preparing financial reports, forecasts, and cost analysis for project-related decision-making.

•Maintain accurate financial records for individual projects, ensuring compliance with accounting standards and company policies.

•Process invoices, payments, and reconciliations for project-related accounts payable and receivable.

•Monitor project expenditures and analyze variances against approved budgets.

•Support project managers with financial insights, reporting, and cost control strategies.

•Assist in financial audits and provide documentation as required.

•Ensure compliance with tax regulations, financial policies, and industry best practices.

•Use financial software and tools to track project transactions and generate reports.

•Identify opportunities for process improvements in project financial operations.

•Preparing Fixed Assets Schedules and Amortization.

Qualifications & Skills

•Diploma or degree in Finance, Accounting (CIMA/ACCA), Business Administration, or a related field.

•8+ years of experience in project accounting, financial coordination, or related roles.

•Proficiency in financial software, including QuickBooks, Sage, or ERP systems.

•Strong knowledge of financial reporting (IFRS/Canadian GAAP), cost tracking, and budgeting principles.
