Job Summary

The Project Coordinator plays a key role in upholding the University’s Mission, Vision, and Values by delivering exceptional customer service. This position is a vital component of the interprofessional team, collaborating closely with the Principle Investigator and Lifestyle Change Program staff to offer support for this sponsored diabetes program. The goal is to engage stakeholders, coordinate data collection, support qualitative and quantitative analyses, manage project timelines and deliverables, and assist with development of publicly accessible educational materials. This role is non-clinical and does not involve service delivery or operational implementation within clinics.

As a liaison between the program and various internal and external stakeholders, clinics, and community organizations, the Project Coordinator must demonstrate independence, leadership, serve as a positive role model, and make informed decisions independently. The position may require some travel to different community locations within East Texas.


Key Responsibilities

  • Establish and foster relationships with internal and external stakeholders to strengthen collaborative efforts aimed at reducing diabetes in Northeast Texas.
  • Coordinate project activities, timelines, milestones, and deliverables in alignment with the approved grant workplan.
  • Schedule and support CHW interviews, listening sessions, observations, and advisory group meetings.
  • Maintain project documentation, tracking tools, and internal reporting materials.
  • Support qualitative data collection processes, including interview coordination, transcription workflows, and data organization.
  • Coordinate receipt and organization of de-identified, aggregate baseline data and support descriptive analysis in collaboration with the project analyst.
  • Assist with preparation of reports, educational briefs, infographics, and other dissemination materials.
  • Support development and maintenance of a public-facing project website and dissemination strategy.
  • Ensure compliance with institutional policies, IRB determinations, and sponsor reporting requirements.
  • Act as a liaison for the Center with internal and external stakeholders, clinics, and community organizations.
  • Participate in meetings, serve on committees, and represent the department and hospital/facility in community outreach efforts.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


Required Education/Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree required in health sciences, Public Health, Business Administration, or related degree.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of coordination in health-related services or related experience.
  • May consider a combination of education and experience.


Preferred Education/Experience

  • Master’s degree in public health (MPH/MSPH), Health Administration (MHA), or related field.

  • Must be able to work with a diverse patient population and deliver exceptional customer service skills.

Additional Information

The retirement plan for this position is Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS), subject to the position being at least 20 hours per week and at least 135 days in length. This position has the option to elect the Optional Retirement Program (ORP) instead of TRS, subject to the position being 40 hours per week and at least 135 days in length.

This position is security-sensitive and subject to Texas Education Code Section 51.215, which authorizes the employer to obtain criminal history record information. Applicants selected must be able to show proof of eligibility to work in the United States by time of hire.

Clinical Position Requirements

Clinical positions require pre-screening through our Occupational Health department, including a drug test. Employees are required to obtain annual influenza vaccines.
