Job Description: Project Engineer (High-Rise)

Reporting to: Project Manager

Role Objective

The Project Engineer is responsible for the technical coordination, planning, and administrative management of a high-rise development. You will ensure that all technical submittals, shop drawings, and material approvals are aligned with the construction schedule, acting as the primary point of contact between the Consultant and the Site Team.

Key Responsibilities

• Technical Coordination: Review and coordinate structural, architectural, and MEP shop drawings to ensure there are no "clashes" before they reach the site team.
• Submittals & Approvals: Manage the Material Submittal (MAR) and Shop Drawing (SAR) process. Ensure all approvals from Consultants and Authorities (DM, DCD, DEWA) are obtained ahead of the construction schedule.
• Planning & Progress: Work closely with the Planning Engineer to update the look-ahead schedules (2-week and 1-month). Identify potential delays in the high-rise cycle and propose recovery plans.
• Method Statements: Draft and obtain approval for Method Statements and Risk Assessments, particularly for high-risk high-rise activities like crane climbing, glass facade installation, and high-pressure concrete pumping.
• Procurement Support: Coordinate with the Procurement department to ensure long-lead items (elevators, chillers, facade panels) are ordered and delivered to meet the "dry-in" dates.
• Consultant Liaison: Lead technical meetings with the Consultant and Client to resolve site queries (RFIs) and design discrepancies.
• Quality Assurance: Oversee the closing of Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) and ensure the site team is following the approved Inspection Test Plans (ITP).

Required Qualifications & Experience

• Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering (Masters is a plus).
• Experience:
• 7–10 years in the construction industry.
• Must have completed at least one High-Rise project (30+ floors) in a Project Engineer or Lead Site Engineer capacity.
• Strong knowledge of Dubai Building Codes and Civil Defense (DCD) requirements for life safety.
• Technical Skills:
• Proficiency in AutoCAD and MS Project / Primavera P6 (for progress tracking).
• Experience with BIM (Revit) is highly desirable for modern high-rise coordination.
• Excellent report-writing skills for monthly progress reports.

Core Competencies

• Anticipation: The ability to see a technical problem on a drawing 4 weeks before it becomes a physical problem on the 40th floor.
• Communication: Acting as a diplomat between the "get it done" site team and the "follow the book" consultant.
• Multitasking: Managing multiple sub-contractors (facade, fit-out, MEP, structure) simultaneously.
• Leadership: Mentoring Site Engineers and ensuring the engineering team stays organized.
