Mechanical / Piping Estimator

We are partnered with a growing construction organization seeking an experienced Mechanical / Piping Estimator to join their team.

This role is heavily focused on piping systems and mechanical scopes, including plumbing and HVAC. The ideal candidate brings strong experience in piping takeoffs, interpreting complex drawings, and building accurate, detailed estimates.

Key Responsibilities

• Analyze drawings, specifications, and contract documents to prepare accurate estimates
• Perform detailed quantity take-offs with a strong focus on piping systems (mechanical, plumbing, HVAC)
• Interpret piping plans, isometric drawings, and detailed specifications
• Assemble complete, organized estimates within project deadlines
• Issue RFIs to clarify scope gaps, conflicts, or missing information
• Prepare and evaluate subcontractor and vendor bid packages
• Review subcontractor and supplier quotes for scope compliance and accuracy
• Maintain strong relationships with subcontractors, vendors, and internal teams
• Develop detailed cost breakdowns to support pre-construction budgeting
• Compile material and labor data for internal cost tracking
• Participate in pre-bid walkthroughs as needed
• Collaborate with other estimators on multi-trade proposals
• Ensure all estimates align with project scope, drawings, and contract requirements

Qualifications

• 5–10+ years of estimating experience in commercial or industrial construction
• Strong experience with piping systems, mechanical, plumbing, and/or HVAC estimating
• Ability to read and interpret:
• Construction drawings
• Piping plans
• Isometric drawings
• Specifications and detail documents
• Experience with estimating software (QuickPen AutoBid preferred)
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Project)
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication
• High attention to detail with strong follow-through
• Degree preferred, or equivalent industry experience
• Combination of field and office experience is a strong plus

Pay: $100,000.00 - $140,000.00 per year
