Job Summary:
The Project Manager is responsible for overseeing and leading all project control activities—including planning, scheduling, cost control, risk management, and progress monitoring—to ensure successful execution of projects in alignment with organizational goals. This role serves as a strategic partner to project managers, engineering leads, and senior management, ensuring data-driven decision-making and project transparency across all phases.
Key Responsibilities:1. Leadership & Strategy
- Lead and manage the project controls team, ensuring delivery of accurate and timely planning, cost, and progress data.
- Develop and implement standardized project control procedures, tools, and best practices across all projects.
- Support project governance and decision-making with strategic insights based on project performance data.
2. Planning & Scheduling
- Oversee the development and management of project schedules using Primavera P6, MS Project, or equivalent tools.
- Validate project Work Breakdown Structures (WBS), resource plans, and sequencing to ensure alignment with project scope and deliverables.
- Review and approve baseline schedules and updates submitted by project control engineers.
3. Cost Control & Budgeting
- Establish project budgets and financial baselines in coordination with finance and project management teams.
- Monitor and analyze cost performance, variances, and forecast trends; ensure timely implementation of corrective actions.
- Oversee change management processes and ensure proper assessment of cost and schedule impacts.
4. Progress Monitoring & Reporting
- Monitor and report on project KPIs including earned value (EV), schedule and cost performance indexes (SPI & CPI), and productivity metrics.
- Produce high-level progress and performance dashboards for senior management and stakeholders.
- Ensure consistency and integrity in data collection, analysis, and reporting.
5. Risk & Change Management
- Lead risk identification and mitigation planning across projects.
- Oversee the maintenance of the risk register and support scenario planning.
- Ensure structured evaluation and approval of all project changes and their implications.
6. Compliance & Documentation
- Ensure all project control documentation complies with internal standards and contractual requirements.
- Conduct audits and reviews to verify adherence to project control processes.
- Maintain historical data for benchmarking and lessons learned.
Qualifications & Skills:Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field.
- Master’s degree (preferred but not mandatory).
Experience:
- 8–10+ years of progressive experience in project controls, with at least 3–5 years in a managerial or lead role.
- Proven experience in office-based project control for large-scale projects.
- Industry background in [e.g., oil & gas, infrastructure, construction, power, etc.]
Technical Skills:
- Expert-level proficiency in Primavera P6, MS Project, and Excel.
- Deep understanding of earned value management (EVM), project lifecycles, contract administration, and procurement processes.
- Familiar with ERP systems and project management software suites (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Power BI).
Soft Skills:
- Strong leadership and team management capabilities.
- Strategic thinker with excellent analytical and decision-making skills.
- High-level communication and stakeholder engagement abilities.
- Capable of handling multiple projects under pressure with attention to detail.
