Project Planning Specialist/Planning Engineer

We are seeking a highly organized and analytical Project Planning Specialist/Planning Engineer. The successful candidate will be responsible for planning, scheduling, monitoring and reporting on project progress to ensure timely and efficient project delivery.

Key Accountabilities

• Develop detailed project schedules, timelines, and work programs using industry-standard planning tools.
• Prepare baseline schedules, resource plans, and cost-loaded program.
• Monitor project progress and update schedules regularly to reflect actual performance.
• Identify critical path activities and potential project risks and propose mitigation measures.
• Coordinate with project managers, engineers, contractors, and stakeholders to gather progress information.
• Prepare weekly and monthly progress reports, dashboards, and presentations for management review.
• Analyze project performance, including schedule variances and productivity trends.
• Support project budgeting, forecasting, and cost control activities.
• Track deliverables, milestones, and contractual obligations to ensure compliance.
• Participate in project meetings and provide planning-related insights and recommendations.
• Ensure proper documentation and maintenance of project planning records.
• Assist in the preparation of extension of time (EOT) claims and supporting documentation when required.
• Implement best practices in project controls and planning processes.
• Collaborate with procurement and construction teams to align schedules with project requirements.
  
  

Requirements

Education & Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field
• Minimum of 4–6 years of experience in project planning and scheduling, preferably in construction, engineering, or infrastructure projects
• Experience working on large-scale projects in Qatar or the GCC region is highly preferred
  
  

Technical Skills

• Proficiency in planning and scheduling software such as Primavera P6 and/or MS Project
• Strong knowledge of project management methodologies and project controls
• Solid understanding of construction sequences, resource planning, and cost management
• Ability to interpret technical drawings, BOQs, and contract documents
• Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel and reporting tools

Language & Other Requirements

• Fluency in English is required
• Candidates currently residing in Qatar are preferred
