Job Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and compassionate Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) to join our multidisciplinary healthcare team. Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough psychiatric evaluations, including mental status examinations and diagnostic assessments using ICD-10 coding standards.
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans that incorporate psychopharmacology, therapy, and other modalities such as behavioral health interventions.
- Prescribe and manage medications, including antidepressants, antipsychotics, and botulinum toxin treatments where appropriate, ensuring safe administration and monitoring for adverse effects.
- Collaborate with physicians, social workers, case managers, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate comprehensive patient care.
- Utilize electronic health record (EHR) systems like Epic or eClinicalWorks to document patient encounters accurately while maintaining HIPAA compliance.
- Provide telehealth services to expand access to mental health care for remote or underserved populations.
- Educate patients and families on mental health conditions, treatment options, medication adherence, and lifestyle modifications to promote recovery and resilience.
Skills
- Proven experience with psychiatric assessment tools and clinical research in mental health settings.
- Strong knowledge of psychopharmacology, including medication administration protocols such as injections and IV infusions.
- Familiarity with ICD-9/10 coding systems for accurate documentation and billing purposes.
- Experience working with diverse populations including children, geriatrics, assisted living residents, hospice patients, or individuals with developmental disabilities.
- Competence in managing acute pain cases, trauma responses at Level I/II trauma centers or emergency rooms, and urgent care environments.
- Skilled in utilizing EMR/EHR systems like Cerner or Athenahealth for efficient documentation and patient management.
- Ability to perform physical examinations when necessary, including vital signs assessment and basic procedures such as suturing or sterile processing techniques. This role requires a proactive mindset combined with excellent communication skills to foster trust and rapport with patients from varied backgrounds. Candidates should demonstrate critical care experience, familiarity with hospital medicine or inpatient settings—including ICU or PICU—and a passion for advancing behavioral health initiatives through innovative approaches like telehealth or community outreach.
