Employment Opportunity
This is a non-benefited position responsible for designing promotional materials for the Library, in both print and electronic media. With a vision of informing and engaging the community, the person in this role will work on a wide range of projects and media, using various software programs to visualize and develop innovative graphic designs that will promote library events and services. This position will collaborate on a wide range of materials that may include web pages, presentations, event publicity, signage, internal communications, newsletters, social media, and marketing materials. The successful candidate should be able to take written or spoken ideas and convert them into a design that connects. They will have an understanding of branding and marketing, and be able to find the right style and layout for every project. This position will also regularly help with program and event planning and hosting, and must be comfortable working with large audiences and in stressful situations. Works under the direction of a Library Division Manager, Librarian, or Associate Librarian. Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in graphic design, art, or related discipline. Professional experience in design software, including Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop, and Canva. Experience in creating digital ads (static/video) for social ad platforms including Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, and TikTok. Exceptional creativity and innovative design skills. Excellent communication and presentation skills. Deadline-oriented, pays attention to detail, and required to have great time-management skills. Ability to work independently and in a team environment. The candidate will be required to pass a pre-employment drug screen and a criminal background investigation.
Pay and Benefits
Individual starting salary will depend on qualifications, certifications, and experience. The City also provides a comprehensive and competitive benefits package.
Schedule
15-20 hours per week. Evening and weekend hours will be required.
