Purchase Assistant (FMCG)

Job Purpose:

The Purchase Assistant will support the procurement team in sourcing, purchasing, and maintaining adequate stock of FMCG products. The role involves coordinating with suppliers, monitoring inventory, processing purchase orders, and ensuring timely delivery to meet business requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in daily procurement activities related to FMCG items.
  • Source and evaluate suppliers for quality, reliability, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Prepare and process purchase orders, quotations, and related documentation.
  • Follow up with suppliers to ensure on-time delivery and resolve discrepancies.
  • Coordinate with warehouse and inventory teams to maintain optimal stock levels.
  • Maintain updated records of purchases, pricing, and supplier contracts.
  • Monitor market trends, competitor pricing, and availability of new FMCG products.
  • Support negotiations with vendors for better pricing and payment terms.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and procurement standards.
  • Generate regular reports on purchase activities for management review.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain, or related field.
  • 1–3 years of experience in purchasing/procurement (preferably in FMCG sector).
  • Knowledge of FMCG products, suppliers, and local market dynamics.
  • Strong negotiation and communication skills.
  • Good organizational and time-management abilities.
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) and ERP systems.
  • Detail-oriented with problem-solving skills.
