Role Overview
The Purchase Manager at Countai Pvt Ltd will strategically manage procurement activities to ensure timely sourcing of materials, machinery components, and services. This role blends vendor management, cost control, supply-chain optimization, and close collaboration with operations to align procurement with business objectives.
Key Roles & Responsibilities1. Procurement Strategy & Planning
- Create and execute end-to-end procurement strategies in line with demand forecasts and production schedules.
- Conduct market research to identify suppliers, benchmark costs, and source new vendors.
2. Vendor Selection & Relations
- Evaluate and onboard suppliers: assess quality, pricing, delivery capability, and reliability.
- Negotiate rates, contracts, and payment terms to maximize value while minimizing risk.
- Build strong relationships with vendors, ensuring performance through SLAs and periodic reviews.
3. Purchase Operations & Order Management
- Issue, process, and monitor purchase orders ensuring adherence to SOPs.
- Coordinate closely with Operations, Production, and Service teams to meet material requirements on schedule.
- Resolve procurement issues such as delays, quality concerns, or deviations swiftly.
4. Cost Control & Budget Management
- Track procurement budgets and implement cost-control initiatives (bulk discounts, alternate sourcing, vendor consolidation, etc.).
- Identify opportunities for savings through strategic sourcing and negotiation.
5. Quality & Compliance
- Ensure procured items meet specifications and quality standards.
- Maintain compliance with procurement policies and regulatory norms.
- Manage suppliers’ audits and vendor performance reviews.
6. Inventory & Vendor Performance Monitoring
- Work with inventory or warehouse teams to maintain optimal stock levels and minimize excess.
- Monitor vendors’ KPIs such as on-time delivery, quality issues, and responsiveness.
- Implement corrective actions for underperforming vendors.
7. Reporting & Analysis
- Generate procurement reports: cost variance, lead times, order fulfillment rates, vendor efficiency.
- Present insights and recommendations to management for strategic decision-making.
Skills & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Mechanical/Textile Engineering
- 5–7 years of procurement experience, ideally within the textile, engineering, or machinery sector.
- Strong negotiation skills and supplier relationship management.
- Familiarity with ERP procurement modules (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Tally, Zoho).
- Analytical mindset with ability to interpret data and derive actionable recommendations.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder coordination abilities.
