Purchase Manager

Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced and result-oriented Purchase Manager for our confectionery manufacturing business. The ideal candidate will be responsible for sourcing raw materials, packaging materials, machinery, and vendor services while ensuring cost efficiency, quality compliance, and uninterrupted production supply. Prior experience in the food or confectionery industry is highly preferred.

Key Responsibilities

1. Procurement & Vendor Management

• Source and procure raw materials such as sugar, cocoa, milk powder, flavors, emulsifiers, edible oils, nuts, and other confectionery ingredients.
• Manage procurement of packaging materials (wrappers, cartons, labels, pouches, jars, etc.).
• Identify, evaluate, and onboard new vendors.
• Develop and maintain strong vendor relationships.
• Negotiate pricing, payment terms, delivery schedules, and contracts.

2. Cost Control & Budget Management

• Ensure cost-effective purchasing without compromising quality.
• Conduct regular price comparisons and market analysis.
• Track commodity price trends and forecast procurement budgets.
• Achieve annual cost-saving targets.

3. Inventory & Supply Planning

• Coordinate with Production and Warehouse teams to ensure uninterrupted material availability.
• Monitor stock levels and prevent stock-outs or overstocking.
• Implement inventory optimization strategies.

4. Quality & Compliance

• Ensure all materials meet FSSAI and food safety standards.
• Coordinate with QA/QC for material inspection and approvals.
• Maintain documentation for audits and compliance requirements.

5. Logistics & Coordination

• Coordinate transportation and timely delivery of materials.
• Resolve supply chain disruptions efficiently.
• Work closely with Accounts for invoice verification and payment processing.

6. Reporting & Documentation

• Maintain purchase records, vendor agreements, and MIS reports.
• Prepare monthly procurement performance reports.
• Monitor procurement KPIs and vendor performance metrics.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Commerce, Business Administration, or related field.
• Experience in procurement (experience in confectionery/FMCG/food manufacturing preferred).
• Strong negotiation and vendor management skills.
• Knowledge of food safety standards and compliance regulations.
• Proficiency in MS Excel and ERP systems.
• Strong analytical and decision-making skills.

Preferred Skills

• Experience handling commodity-based procurement (sugar, cocoa, etc.).
• Understanding of packaging material sourcing.
• Strong market networking ability.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet tight production timelines.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: ₹30,000.00 - ₹35,000.00 per month
