We are looking for an experienced Construction Purchaser to manage the procurement of materials, equipment, and services required for construction projects. The ideal candidate will ensure timely delivery of quality materials at competitive prices while supporting project timelines and budgets.
Key Responsibilities:
- Source and procure construction materials such as cement, steel, aggregates, electrical, and plumbing supplies
- Identify, evaluate, and maintain relationships with reliable vendors and suppliers
- Negotiate pricing, payment terms, and contracts to achieve cost savings
- Prepare and issue purchase orders in line with project requirements
- Coordinate with site engineers, project managers, and storekeepers to understand material needs
- Track deliveries and ensure materials arrive on time and meet quality standards
- Monitor inventory levels and avoid shortages or overstocking
- Compare supplier quotations and prepare cost analysis reports
- Resolve issues related to delays, damaged goods, or supplier discrepancies
- Stay updated on market price trends for construction materials
Requirements:
- Proven experience as a Purchaser or Buyer in the construction industry
- Strong knowledge of construction materials and supply chain processes
- Excellent negotiation and vendor management skills
- Proficiency in MS Office and procurement/ERP software
- Strong organizational and multitasking abilities
- Ability to work under pressure and meet project deadlines
- Good communication skills for coordination with site and office teams
