Job Overview:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Purchasing Agent to join our construction team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for sourcing, negotiating, and procuring materials, equipment, and services necessary for construction projects. A strong working knowledge of JobPro is required to effectively manage purchasing workflows, maintain accurate records, and support job costing and inventory tracking.
Key Responsibilities:
- Procure construction materials and equipment in a timely and cost-effective manner to support project schedules.
- Utilize JobPro to:
- Create and manage purchase orders
- Track inventory and deliveries
- Monitor project budgets and job costing
- Maintain supplier and vendor records
- Collaborate with project managers, site supervisors, and estimators to determine material requirements.
- Solicit and review quotes from vendors and suppliers; negotiate pricing, terms, and delivery schedules.
- Maintain strong vendor relationships and evaluate vendor performance.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, contract terms, and quality standards.
- Monitor material usage and coordinate with warehouse/logistics for timely deliveries to job sites.
- Address and resolve any issues related to delays, shortages, or quality concerns.
- Assist with budget tracking and cost control by analyzing purchasing data.
- Support documentation and reporting needs for audits and internal reviews.
Qualifications:
- 2+ years of purchasing or procurement experience, preferably in the construction industry.
- Proficiency in JobPro software is required.
- Strong negotiation and analytical skills.
- Familiarity with construction materials, tools, and equipment.
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to work independently and in a team-oriented environment.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Outlook, Word).
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with job costing and inventory management.
- Knowledge of construction project lifecycles and timelines.
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Construction Management, or related field (preferred but not required).
