Job Overview:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Purchasing Agent to join our construction team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for sourcing, negotiating, and procuring materials, equipment, and services necessary for construction projects. A strong working knowledge of JobPro is required to effectively manage purchasing workflows, maintain accurate records, and support job costing and inventory tracking.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Procure construction materials and equipment in a timely and cost-effective manner to support project schedules.
  • Utilize JobPro to:
  • Create and manage purchase orders
  • Track inventory and deliveries
  • Monitor project budgets and job costing
  • Maintain supplier and vendor records
  • Collaborate with project managers, site supervisors, and estimators to determine material requirements.
  • Solicit and review quotes from vendors and suppliers; negotiate pricing, terms, and delivery schedules.
  • Maintain strong vendor relationships and evaluate vendor performance.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, contract terms, and quality standards.
  • Monitor material usage and coordinate with warehouse/logistics for timely deliveries to job sites.
  • Address and resolve any issues related to delays, shortages, or quality concerns.
  • Assist with budget tracking and cost control by analyzing purchasing data.
  • Support documentation and reporting needs for audits and internal reviews.

Qualifications:

  • 2+ years of purchasing or procurement experience, preferably in the construction industry.
  • Proficiency in JobPro software is required.
  • Strong negotiation and analytical skills.
  • Familiarity with construction materials, tools, and equipment.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team-oriented environment.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Outlook, Word).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with job costing and inventory management.
  • Knowledge of construction project lifecycles and timelines.
  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Construction Management, or related field (preferred but not required).
