About the role:

Qatar Airways are pleased to announce an incredibly exciting opportunity to join our Lounges shared services team as an QHSE Specialist who is responsible to provide proactive leadership, guidance and instructions in the area of quality, health, safety (both people and food) and environment to HIA Lounges, Outstation Lounges and Al-Maha Services in line with QR Group Safety and Security Department and Aero political and Corporate Affairs Department to improve organizational safety and sustainability culture and performance. Manage and enforce the development and implementation of QHSE standards, policies and programs including ISO, HACCP, regulatory audits, training programs, standard operating procedures, product inspections and standardized work instructions to ensure compliance with QR's QHSE guidelines.

Operational

  • Oversee the QHSE function of HIA and Outstation Lounges to ensure compliance with applicable QHSE regulatory requirements (local and international) are met.

  • Plan and execute targeted efforts to increase QHSE & hygiene operating knowledge of lounge leaders and teams.

  • Plan and complete QHSE internal/external audits including communication of audit process and scheduling.

  • Plan and schedule methods of communication of changes to policies and procedures to the wider team.

  • Prepare and communicate yearly and mid-year QHSE metric results, and utilize this information to plan initiatives to establish continual improvement plans of QHSE.

  • Update and develop QHSE procedures and documentation such as SOPs, manuals, and policies to keep up with changing requirements.

  • Manage and plan annual audit schedule including conducting facility, supplier, and outstation QHSE audit as well as manage third-party audit to ensure compliance to company/national and international standards.

  • Assist and educate potential suppliers to ensure QHSE compliance to local and international standards requirements.

  • Routinely audit QHSE practices of key associates performing QHSE activities including own team to objectively evaluate performance and provide feedback as necessary to ensure compliance with the preventive control program and any regulatory requirements.

  • Conduct thorough investigations on QHSE related malpractice or complaints from customers. Effectively communicate resolutions to internal and external stakeholders as needed by working closely with departmental and interdepartmental managers on solving any QHSE or hygiene-related issues.

  • Investigate IOD, VHR, CIR, fire, and environment e-reports on AQD to ensure that the appropriate actions are taken to prevent reoccurrence.

  • Direct QHSE team in incident investigations and prepare reports and provide consultation to the management/QHSE team to take necessary corrective actions.

  • Handle and oversee the non-conformance process to ensure timely communication and execution of product rejections and completion of related documentation.

  • Review and endorse all documents submitted by the team for compliance and best practice, complying with the company policies and strategy.

  • Keep abreast of emerging issues in QHSE and hygiene relating to international lounge operation to ensure corrective/preventive actions are timely taken.

  • Maintain open communication with all related departments to address and identification of QHSE hazards and process improvement opportunities.

  • Develops and manages the behavioral-based safety culture in the department through safe job observations and lounge management inspections.

  • Act as HIA Lounges representative in all organizational internal QHSE meetings and committees to ensure consistency within the company.

  • Lead team in getting industry certifications/re-certifications for department and company in regards to QHSE.

  • Support QR Group Procurement by assessing suppliers' quality & safety performance, specify requirements of raw materials, food/non-food products, and OHS supplies to ensure safe high-quality purchases.

  • Develop and direct training for QHSE requirements with QR Training and Development. Support the QHSE team to conduct food safety, hygiene, and OHS-related training for HIA Lounges staff to contribute to the level of conformance on regular basis with assessments to ensure that intended message is communicated. u Perform other department duties related to his/her position as directed by the Head of the Department

Qualifications

Qualification

High School Qualification / Vocational Qualification /Diploma or Equivalent (Type of Diploma Based on Role) with Minimum 5 years of job-related experience OR Bachelor's Degree or Equivalent with Minimum 4 years of job-related experience

Essential:

  • At least 4 years of job-related experience in airline lounges

  • Experience in working with a multicultural group of people

  • Experience in handling customer/staff safety, food safety, and quality-related incident Previous experience in the QHSE role

  • Strong Knowledge of QHSE industry/international best practices

  • Strong communication, interpersonal & investigative skills, conflict resolution abilities with strong command for details

  • Fluency in both spoken and written English and capable of writing clear factual high standard reports

  • Possess a critical and analytic mind with a view to standardizing QHSE procedures

  • Developed people management skills, for subordinates, colleagues, and superiors

  • Managerial skills - Ability to delegate work, set clear direction and manage workflow. Strong mentoring and coaching skills. Ability to train and develop subordinate's skills. Ability to foster teamwork among team members.

Preferred:

  • NEBOSH IGC

  • Lead auditor of ISO 22000, 45001, 14001 ,9001

  • Other related QHSE certificates

  • Exceptional risk assessment skills (regulatory requirements, safety, and quality risks)

  • Analytical skills

  • Project management skills

  • Strong leadership skills
