Receptionist / Administrative Assistant — CPA Firm

Location: Hurst, TX (DFW Area)
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 9:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m.
Compensation: $20–$30/hour, depending on experience
Start Date: ASAP
Employment Type: Temporary/introductory role with opportunity to become permanent after 90 days

A professional CPA firm in the DFW area is seeking a Receptionist / Administrative Assistant to join the team as soon as possible. This role is ideal for someone with prior professional office experience who enjoys working with clients, managing multiple priorities, and helping keep a busy office running smoothly.

The position is generally Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with some scheduling flexibility available during non-peak seasons. After a successful 90-day period, there is opportunity to transition into a permanent salaried position with benefits.

Key Responsibilities

  • Greet clients and visitors in a professional, friendly manner
  • Answer, screen, and direct phone calls
  • Manage incoming and outgoing mail, packages, and office communications
  • Schedule appointments and assist with calendar coordination
  • Support partners, CPAs, and administrative staff with day-to-day office tasks
  • Assist with client intake, document tracking, and basic file organization
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and professional front office area
  • Handle confidential client information with discretion
  • Help manage busy periods with multiple calls, clients, and competing priorities
  • Stay productive and organized during slower periods or downtime

Qualifications

  • Prior professional office experience required
  • Professional appearance and demeanor
  • Strong communication and customer service skills
  • Comfortable interacting with clients in person, by phone, and by email
  • Ability to multitask and shift priorities throughout the day
  • Organized, dependable, punctual, and detail-oriented
  • Comfortable working in both fast-paced periods and quieter downtime
  • Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office and general office systems
  • Experience in a CPA firm, law firm, financial office, or other professional services environment is a plus

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate is polished, reliable, and comfortable being the first point of contact for clients. This person should be able to juggle phones, visitors, administrative requests, and client needs while maintaining a calm and professional presence. The right fit will also be comfortable with occasional slower periods and able to use downtime productively.
