Base Hourly:

$17.53


Class/Calendar:

A13, 12 months

Performance Pay:

Available annually


New Hire Experience:

1% of the base hourly rate granted for each year of verified like experience (within ten years) beyond the requirement, up to a ten-year maximum


New Hire Education:

1% of the base hourly rate awarded for an AA or higher degree if not required for the position


Job Summary:

To perform clerical and other assigned tasks for assigned personnel in regard to special education and transportation bus aides.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Regular and on-time attendance required
  • Serve as a liaison between transportation and special education department regarding bus aides
  • Assign, coordinate and check in/out special education pool vehicles
  • Establish and maintain records (i.e. key control, repairs, etc.) and filing system for appropriate documents and materials
  • Schedule and coordinate routes for bus aides
  • Respond to inquiries, or direct to appropriate personnel, from general public, district personnel and outside agencies
  • Perform general office tasks (typing, filing, faxing, etc.)
  • Serve as back-up and assist other department staff when needed
  • Assist other personnel as may be required for the purpose of supporting them in the completion of their work activities.
  • Assists with other assigned duties as appropriate to the area of assignment and Mesa Public Schools

Required Qualifications:

  • High School education or equivalent

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of office procedures with office experience

  • Moderate proficiency in typing, with good accuracy; above average test battery
  • Proficient use of office equipment (computers, phones, copiers, printers)
  • Computer proficiency to include regular use of learning management systems (e.g., Canvas, Google Suite, Powerschool), databases, and scheduling software.
  • Ability to organize, to prioritize and to meet deadlines with accurate attention to detail while working with frequent interruptions and minimum supervision
  • Ability to communicate effectively (verbal and written) and to establish and to maintain effective and cooperative working relationships with district personnel of all levels, general public
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality

Work Environment & Physical Requirements:

  • Most of the work is done indoors in an administrative office, often located in the transportation department or district office
  • Typically works standard school district hours (e.g., 7:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.), with occasional need for overtime during peak periods (start of school year, route changes, audits)
  • Heavy use of computers, software systems (such as routing and student information systems), spreadsheets, and email
  • May work under pressure during route planning, compliance reporting, or student transportation changes
  • Occasional noise from phones, radios (dispatch communication), or foot traffic if near the dispatch or bus yard
  • Occasionally lifts or carries records, boxes, or office supplies (typically under 25 lbs.)
