Residential Energy Modeler

As a Residential Energy Modeler, your primary focus will be building and maintaining residential energy models by entering and verifying detailed construction data from architectural plans.for residential home projects. Your responsibilities will include assisting in the creation of accurate residential home energy models, tracking project data, identifying trends for continuous improvement, speaking with builders about those trends and how they can improve, and developing an efficient process for yourself and your team.

The ideal candidate exhibits a strong attention to detail, demonstrates exceptional organizational skills, and possesses a strong mechanical aptitude. While prior experience in residential energy modeling or construction design is a plus, it is not a prerequisite. What matters most is your passion for learning, adaptability, and a steadfast commitment to producing exceptional work.

  • Team Collaboration: Proven success in working with teams and coordinating with different builders and subcontractors.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written skills to convey information effectively. Occasional meetings with builders and subcontractors.
  • Tech Savvy: Proficient in using modeling software, spreadsheets, and other relevant tools (training provided).
  • Willingness to Learn: Open to learning new processes, adjusting to evolving project needs and able to draw conclusions.
  • Open to Constructive Feedback: Open mindset of the issues with projects are not a personal reflection and rather a necessary part of the learning curve with the role.
  • Personal Time Management: Able to self motivate and understand realistic timetables and goals for projects and tasks given the daily workload.
  • Leadership: Demonstrates accountability and leads by example while clearly delegating responsibilities, setting priorities, and addressing challenges through honest communication.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Energy Modeling: Create initial energy models for new residential construction projects, considering various building types.
  • Building Model Setup: Initiate the modeling process by organizing and setting up floorplan template files.
  • Final Modeling: Complete and verify final models to ensure accuracy and adherence to project requirements.
  • Research: Conduct research on HVAC equipment, local utilities, and general building science.
  • Issue Tracking: Identify, track, and resolve project issues while maintaining thorough documentation.
  • Trend Analysis: Analyze data to identify trends and support continuous improvement efforts.

Pay / Benefits:

  • 4 Day Work Schedule, Monday thru Thursday, typically 8am – 4pm,
  • We’ve adopted a four-day work week (still 100% paid!), we call it the Gift of the 5th. We work hard, smart and as efficiently as possible as a result to get more done in less time. There may be times where things get busy and people put some extra time in but that’s rare.
  • $20 and above based on industry experience - pay increases available with additional certifications
