Job Summary

The Safety Officer is responsible for implementing, monitoring, and maintaining health, safety, and environmental (HSE) standards in compliance with UAE Federal Laws, OSHA/NEBOSH standards, and Abu Dhabi OSHAD-SF guidelines. The role ensures a safe working environment, minimizes risks, and promotes a culture of safety across all operations.

Key Responsibilities

1. Compliance & Regulatory Duties

  • Ensure adherence to Abu Dhabi OSHAD-SF, UAE Fire & Life Safety Code of Practice, and company HSE policies.
  • Assist in preparing and updating project-specific HSE plans, risk assessments, and method statements.
  • Conduct regular inspections and audits to verify compliance with safety procedures.

2. Site Supervision & Safety Monitoring

  • Monitor daily operations to identify potential hazards and unsafe practices.
  • Enforce corrective and preventive actions for non-compliance issues.
  • Ensure proper use of PPE, safety signage, and emergency equipment.

3. Incident & Emergency Management

  • Report, investigate, and document accidents, near-misses, and unsafe conditions.
  • Support emergency drills (fire, evacuation, first aid) and ensure preparedness.
  • Maintain safety logs, records, and required documentation.

4. Training & Awareness

  • Conduct toolbox talks, safety inductions, and refresher training sessions.
  • Promote safety awareness and cultivate a strong safety culture among employees and contractors.

5. Coordination & Communication

  • Coordinate with project managers, supervisors, and subcontractors to address safety issues.
  • Participate in HSE meetings and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Occupational Health & Safety, or related field.
  • NEBOSH IGC (mandatory for most Abu Dhabi roles).
  • Additional HSE certifications (IOSH, OSHA, First Aid, Fire Warden) are an advantage.
  • Minimum 2–5 years of experience as a Safety Officer, preferably in the UAE.
  • Strong knowledge of OSHAD-SF, UAE safety legislation, and industry-specific safety standards.
  • Excellent communication, reporting, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work in multicultural environments.

Skills Required

  • Hazard identification & risk assessment (HIRA)
  • Emergency response & incident investigation
  • Knowledge of safety management systems (SMS)
  • Document control and safety auditing
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills

Working Conditions

  • Based on-site in Abu Dhabi.
  • May require extended working hours depending on project needs.
  • Outdoor and physical site inspections required.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From AED4,000.00 per month
