Scaffolder

A scaffolder erects and dismantles temporary metal scaffolding on construction sites and other structures to provide safe access for workers at height. Key responsibilities include planning, assembling, securing, and inspecting scaffolding according to safety regulations, and performing maintenance and repairs. The job requires physical strength, comfort working at heights, and familiarity with tools and safety procedures.
Core duties
Erect and dismantle scaffolding: Assemble and disassemble temporary structures using components like poles, couplings, and boards.
Plan and prepare: Read site plans, calculate materials needed, and coordinate with other workers.
Ensure safety: Inspect completed scaffolds for safety and stability, secure them to buildings, and fix safety features like guard rails and nets.
Maintain equipment: Repair and maintain scaffolding, and ensure tools and materials are properly organized.
Material handling: Load, unload, and transport materials and equipment.
Adapt structures: Modify or adjust scaffolds as a project progresses

Blueprint reading: The ability to read and interpret diagrams, schematics, and specifications.
