School-Age/Recreational Teacher

Responsibilities

  • Develop and lead engaging recreational activities, including sports, arts, theater, and outdoor play that cater to diverse interests and developmental needs
  • Manage classroom behavior effectively through positive behavior management strategies and classroom management techniques
  • Ensure the safety of all children by implementing proper supervision, first aid procedures, and emergency protocols
  • Collaborate with colleagues to plan age-appropriate curricula that support childhood development and early childhood education principles
  • Foster an inclusive environment by working with children of varying abilities, including those requiring special education accommodations
  • Provide tutoring or academic support as needed to reinforce learning in a fun and supportive manner
  • Communicate regularly with parents or guardians regarding children's progress, behavior, and activities

Qualifications

  • Prior experience working with children in daycare, camp, childcare, or educational settings is highly preferred
  • Knowledge of childhood development stages and behavior management techniques
  • Certification in first aid and CPR is required; additional certifications such as special education training or Christian counseling are a plus
  • Strong classroom management skills with the ability to maintain a positive environment
  • Ability to plan and execute creative activities that promote physical activity, social skills, and cognitive growth
  • Excellent communication skills for working with children, parents, and team members
  • Passion for working with children and fostering their early childhood education and overall well-being
