About the Agency: The mission of the ICfL is to assist libraries to build the capacity to best serve their communities. We’re looking for a School Library Consultant to join our team in Boise, Idaho. Located in the heart of downtown Boise, the ICfL embodies a people-focused agency with a supportive and friendly culture.

Responsibilities:

• Stay informed about trends, laws, regulations, and best practices related to school libraries, and share relevant information with Idaho’s library and education communities.
• Provide consulting services and conduct virtual or in‑person site visits to support library development for school staff, administrators, and decision makers.
• Collaborate with ICfL staff, state agencies, and external organizations on shared school library initiatives.
• Develop, implement, and evaluate projects, grants, programs, and resources that help school libraries meet the needs of their students, staff, and communities.
• Create and maintain school‑library‑focused content on the ICfL website and promote statewide e‑resources, including the IDEA/Sora collection and LiLI databases.
• Plan and deliver professional development and training opportunities for school library staff, administrators, teachers, and other educators in multiple formats.
• Represent Idaho school libraries by building and maintaining partnerships with local, state, and national organizations. Connect with school administrators and school boards to advance the importance of school libraries for Idaho’s students.
Collect and analyze school library statistics.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Considerable knowledge of the professional principles and practices of library science.
• Considerable knowledge of current trends in library services.
• Some knowledge of grants administration.
• Experience planning and evaluating projects, programs or services in a library setting.
• Experience using facilitation, decision-making and problem-solving techniques with groups.
Experience planning, developing and presenting training.

Desirable Qualifications:

Master’s degree in library science, education, or closely related field, or comparable combination of education and experience.
