The Role

Our BANKING & FINANCIAL SERVICES CONSULTING PRACTICE group is looking for a Scrum Master to join our journey.

The Scrum Master is responsible for guiding Agile teams in the effective use of Scrum practices, removing impediments, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement. This role ensures that teams remain focused, collaborative, and aligned with organizational goals while delivering high‑quality products.(6-8 years)

We’re looking for Scrum Master who can deliver within Cognizant’s Five Pillars of Consulting: 1) Project Execution, 2) Expertise, 3) Business Development, 4) Practice Development, & 5) People Development. As a Consultant, this means creating high-quality client deliverables and taking ownership (with supervision) of producing client content and meeting client expectations; developing an expertise in your functional area, including obtaining certifications; contributing to Client Satisfaction and/or RFPs; supporting leadership and contributing to content development for service offerings; and participating in People Care initiatives and exhibiting personal leadership at all times. Responsibilities

Facilitation & Agile Delivery

  • Lead and facilitate all Scrum ceremonies, including sprint planning, daily stand‑ups, sprint reviews, and retrospectives.
  • Support the team in breaking down work, estimating effort, and maintaining a healthy, prioritized backlog.
  • Ensure the team adheres to Agile principles and Scrum best practices.

Team Support & Coaching

  • Coach team members, product owners, and stakeholders on Agile mindset, frameworks, and delivery practices.
  • Promote self‑organization, accountability, and cross‑functional collaboration within the team.
  • Identify team dynamics issues and help foster a positive, productive working environment.

Impediment Removal

  • Proactively identify and remove blockers that hinder team progress.
  • Coordinate with cross‑functional teams, leadership, and external partners to resolve dependencies.
  • Shield the team from distractions to maintain focus on sprint goals.

Stakeholder Collaboration

  • Work closely with the Product Owner to ensure clarity of requirements, readiness of user stories, and alignment on priorities.
  • Facilitate communication between technical and business stakeholders to ensure shared understanding.
  • Provide visibility into team progress through metrics, dashboards, and status updates.

Continuous Improvement

  • Drive a culture of learning and improvement through regular retrospectives and actionable follow‑ups.
  • Encourage experimentation, innovation, and adoption of new tools or practices that enhance team performance.
  • Monitor team health, velocity, and delivery patterns to identify improvement opportunities.

Agile Governance & Reporting

  • Maintain sprint artifacts such as burndown charts, team capacity plans, and impediment logs.
  • Support Agile transformation initiatives and contribute to organizational Agile maturity.
  • Ensure compliance with internal processes, quality standards, and delivery frameworks.

Qualifications

  • 6-8 years working in technology, consulting, professional services, or solution development within the industry.

  • Strong understanding of Agile methodologies, especially Scrum and Kanban.
  • Experience facilitating Scrum ceremonies and coaching teams in Agile practices.
  • Excellent communication, conflict‑resolution, and servant‑leadership skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and navigate complex stakeholder environments.
  • Familiarity with Agile tools such as Jira, Azure DevOps, or Rally.

Working arrangements

  • Hybrid, Washington DC.

Compensation

  • $86,500-$101,500
  • This position is eligible for Cognizant’s discretionary annual incentive program, based on performance and subject to the terms of Cognizant’s applicable plans
