The Junior Accountant is responsible for supporting the accurate recording, reconciliation, and reporting of financial transactions across the group's diversified business sectors. Working under close supervision, the Junior Accountant ensures that financial data is processed in line with established accounting standards and company policies, contributing to the overall integrity and accuracy of the Group's financial records. This job is a foundational position, to build a career in finance by gaining practical experience in general ledger management, financial reporting, budget preparation, and internal controls within a multi-sector environment.RESPONSIBILITIES:Financial Transactions and Ledger Management Complete assigned daily ledger entries and financial transactions accurately and timely, ensuring compliance with accounting standards and internal policies.Reconcile and maintain balance sheet accounts, investigating discrepancies and preparing correcting entries where necessary.Conduct monthly closing activities, ensuring all journal entries and account reconciliations are completed before deadlines.Financial Reporting and AnalysisCollect, compile, and assist in the analysis of basic financial information to support the preparation of accurate and timely financial reports for senior management.Support the preparation of profit and loss statements, balance sheets, cash flow statements, depreciation schedules, debtor and creditor reports, and regulatory filings.Assist senior accountants in the preparation of year-end financial statements and audit schedules. Budgeting and Forecasting Support:Contribute to the preparation of annual budgetsand periodic financial forecasts by gathering and verifying supporting documentation and data. Assist in the analysis of variances between actual results and budgets/forecasts, highlighting key findings.Audit and Compliance:Support internal and external audit processes by compiling requested documentation and assisting with preliminary audit checks.Assist with the implementation, monitoring, and maintenance of internal financial controls and procedures to safeguard company assets.Expense and Payment Processing:Review and process expense reports, ensuring adherence to company policies and accuracy of submissions.Support the accounts payable and receivable processes by preparing payment batches, verifying vendor information, and assisting with collections follow-up.General AccountabilitiesMaintain organized and up-to-date financial files and documentation in compliance with record keeping standards.Ensure confidentiality and integrity in handling sensitive financial information.Uphold company values throughout business practices and utilise sound judgment in decision making.Any other additional duties as may be required by management based on needs of the business.POSITION REQUIREMENTSThis is an entry level position and prior work experience is not required.Internships or training programs are considered an advantage.Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related discipline.ATTRIBUTESSolid foundational knowledge of accounting and finance principles and standards (e.g., IFRS, GAAP).Basic understanding of financial reporting requirements.Strong technical accounting skills, including journal entries, reconciliations, and basic financial analysis.High attention to detail and strong organizational skills.Analysis &amp; ReasoningProblem SolvingAttention to DetailDrive, Energy, And InitiativeVerbal &amp; Written CommunicationExcellence OrientationEthical BehaviourStrong numeracy skills with the ability to workaccurately with large amounts of financial data.Proficient verbal and written communication skills.Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment and under supervision.Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel; familiarity with accountingsoftware (e.g., SAP, Oracle, QuickBooks) is an advantage.Proactive attitude with a willingness to learn and develop within the role.Job Types: Full-time, PermanentWork Location: In person
