Job Description
<br><br>
<b>Responsibilities and Opportunity Offered:</b> The Northern District of Georgia is currently seeking applicants for a permanent Assistant U.S. Attorney (AUSA) opening in our Criminal Division. All initial attorney appointments to the Department of Justice are made on a 14-month (temporary) basis pending favorable adjudication of a background investigation.
<br><br>
The selected Criminal AUSA will initially be assigned to the Training Section. New Criminal AUSAs join this section and, depending on their level of experience, may remain in the section for a year or longer as they develop case experience and trial skills. After successfully completing this training program, the AUSA will be permanently assigned to one of the sections described below at the U.S. Attorney's discretion:

Violent Crime and National Security Section focuses on national security, human trafficking, organized crime and gangs, Hobbs Act robberies, child exploitation, and firearm and immigration offenses.
<br><br>
Narcotics and Dangerous Drugs Section focuses on the investigation and prosecution of international and regional drug trafficking organizations that use the Northern District of Georgia as a narcotics distribution and money laundering hub for the eastern United States, as well as local dealers and rogue doctors who perpetuate the opioid epidemic through their distribution of dangerous drugs. These investigations often involve cutting-edge electronic surveillance, including Title Ill wiretaps.
<br><br>
Complex Frauds and Cybercrime Section focuses on investigating and prosecuting a wide variety of white collar crimes, including mail and wire fraud, corporate and securities fraud, computer intrusion and hacking, government program fraud, identity theft, health care fraud, bank fraud, immigration fraud, intellectual property crimes, counterfeiting, and environmental crimes.
<br><br>
Public Integrity and Civil Rights Section focuses on investigating and prosecuting public corruption cases, civil rights cases, and other matters of special importance to the district.
<br><br>
Money Laundering and Asset Recovery Section focuses on investigating and prosecuting money laundering and other fraud offenses, has overall responsibility in the office for civil and criminal forfeiture, and oversees the collection of civil and criminal debts owed to the United States and the victims of crime.

Qualifications
<br><br>
<b>Required Qualifications:</b> Applicants must possess a J.D. Degree (or equivalent), be an active member in good standing of the bar (any U.S. jurisdiction), and have at least 1-year post-J.D. (or equivalent) legal or other relevant experience.

United States citizenship is required.

This legal support facilitates affordable housing resources for nearly 26,000 low-income households comprised of approximately 50,000 people. The incumbent provides complex contract negotiations and drafting expertise, regulatory interpretation, and strategic and legal advice on procurement solicitations. The Assistant Counsel II also provides oral and written advice to AH Business Units in matters relating to governmental regulations, corporate governance, privacy, ethics and other legal matters impacting the business of AH, as directed.</div>

<div>The essential duties and responsibilities of the Assistant Counsel II include, but are not limited to, the following, as may be assigned by the Deputy General Counsel:</div>
