<p>As a Computer Support Officer (Help Desk), you will provide friendly, responsive first-line IT support to staff, students and visitors. You will help resolve a wide range of technical issues, build positive relationships with users, and contribute to the ongoing improvement of IT services across a busy and dynamic academic environment.</p>

<p>You will also support IT services for teaching, research and student projects, while contributing to service improvements, documentation and the introduction of new technologies. <p></p><p>We are looking for someone with a good level of education, ideally including a qualification in IT, Computer Science, Information Technology or a related subject, or equivalent relevant experience. You will have experience working in an IT support, service desk or customer-facing technical support role, with a strong understanding of desktop environments and IT hardware.</p>
<p>You will have experience diagnosing and resolving a range of technical issues and supporting operating systems, including <b>macOS, Windows and Linux</b>. A good understanding of hardware, networking and IT infrastructure is important, along with experience using diagnostic, maintenance and security tools. Knowledge of Linux package management systems such as <b>apt</b> and <b>yum</b> would also be beneficial.</p>
<p>You will be a strong problem solver with excellent customer service and communication skills, able to support both technical and non-technical users. You will be comfortable managing multiple requests, prioritising your workload and escalating issues when appropriate. We are also looking for someone who can work independently while being a collaborative and supportive member of the wider team, contributing to service improvements and effective IT support across the Department.</p>

<p></p><p>Applicants are invited to apply for a new vacancy at Postdoctoral Research Associate level in Surgical Vision and Artificial Intelligence (AI) for the development of AI methods for intraoperative tissue characterisation. The post is based within the Hamlyn Centre at Imperial College London, and the appointed applicant will carry out research at the South Kensington laboratories as well as at the Hammersmith and Charring Cross Hospitals. The Hamlyn Centre is dedicated to developing safe, effective and accessible imaging, sensing and robotics technologies that can reshape the future of healthcare for both developing and developed countries. The Hamlyn Centre is part of the Institute of Global Health Innovation and is supported by two stake-holding departments, Mechanical Engineering, and Surgery &amp; Cancer.</p>
<p>The postholder will play a pivotal role in the development of novel AI techniques for image guided tissue characterisation during tumour resection procedures. This technology will enable accurate and highly personalised in vivo diagnosis and treatment with the aim of improving both the efficacy and safety of tumour resections. It is in response to the current paradigm shift and clinical demand for bringing into the operating theatre the latest technologies in cellular imaging and AI to allow for real-time tissue analysis and provide surgical guidance during tumour resection. To this effect, the role focuses on the integration of the following elements:</p>
<ul><li>Computer vision for cellular tumour analysis;</li>
<li>AI for interpretable tissue characterisation.</li>
</ul><p>The post is funded by the CRUK Convergence Science Centre Development Fund grant &ldquo;Developing an Intelligent Multiscale Fluorescence-Guided Intraoperative Tool for Brain Tumour Resection&rdquo; led by Dr Stamatia Giannarou.</p>

<p></p><p>Would you like to help build a new laboratory from the ground up and to shape how it works? The Sormanni Lab in the Department of Chemical Engineering is looking for a Research Assistant in Antibody Engineering and Laboratory Automation to strengthen the experimental side of its antibody and nanobody design programme and to take a leading part in establishing its new laboratory at Imperial following the group&rsquo;s relocation from Cambridge.</p>
<p>The group designs antibodies and nanobodies computationally and tests them in house, so the post sits at the interface between AI-design and the bench. It combines hands-on protein science with automation, and carries genuine responsibility for the instruments, procedures and sustainability standards of a laboratory that is still taking shape.</p>
<p></p><h2 class="jobSectionHeader"><b>What you would be doing</b></h2>
<p></p><p>You will develop and deploy protocols for automated liquid handling to increase the throughput of our antibody cloning, expression, purification and characterisation platform. You will design expression constructs, gene fragments and oligonucleotides and carry out the corresponding molecular biology, and you will produce and characterise antibodies, nanobodies and their targets in support of the group&rsquo;s design projects.</p>
<p>Alongside this research work, you will take substantial responsibility for building the laboratory itself. You will help specify, procure and commission instrumentation, write the risk assessments and standard operating procedures that underpin safe working, establish maintenance schedules and stock control, and lead our work towards LEAF (Laboratory Efficiency Assessment Framework) certification.</p>
<p>You will work closely with computational and experimental colleagues, contribute to reports and publications and have the support and time to develop skills that are in demand in both academia and industry.</p>

<p></p><p>Are you passionate about engineering biology and developing sustainable solutions to address global environmental challenges?</p>
<p>We are seeking an ambitious and highly motivated Post Doctoral Researcher to join the Rodrigo Ledesma-Amaro Lab in the Department of Bioengineering at Imperial College London as part of the PROPEL project, an exciting European collaborative initiative developing next-generation sustainable biomanufacturing technologies.</p>
<p>The successful candidate will join the Bezos Centre for Sustainable Protein and the Microbial Food Hub, internationally recognised centres driving innovation in engineering biology, precision fermentation and sustainable food systems. Working within a multidisciplinary and collaborative research environment, you will contribute to pioneering research at the interface of synthetic biology, metabolic engineering, microbial biotechnology and bioprocess engineering.</p>
<p>This role will focus on engineering the oleaginous yeast Yarrowia lipolytica to produce high-value lipids using state-of-the-art synthetic biology and metabolic engineering approaches. You will design and construct novel microbial cell factories, optimise metabolic pathways and develop sustainable bioprocesses that contribute to a circular bioeconomy.</p>
<p>As part of the PROPEL consortium, you will contribute to developing innovative biological manufacturing platforms that transform renewable and waste-derived carbon sources into valuable bio-based products. The project aims to establish sustainable alternatives to fossil-derived materials by combining advances in synthetic biology, fermentation and waste valorisation, helping accelerate Europe's transition towards greener manufacturing.</p>
<p>This is a unique opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge research with real-world environmental impact while working alongside leading academic and industrial collaborators across Europe.</p>
<p></p><h2 class="jobSectionHeader"><b>What you would be doing</b></h2>
<p></p><p>You will undertake research within the Rodrigo Ledesma-Amaro Laboratory, contributing to the development of sustainable microbial cell factories for lipid production.</p>
<p>Your responsibilities will include:</p>
<ul><li>Engineering <b>Yarrowia lipolytica</b> using synthetic biology and metabolic engineering approaches.</li>
<li>Designing, constructing and characterising engineered yeast strains for lipid biosynthesis.</li>
<li>Developing and optimising fermentation and bioprocess strategies.</li>
<li>Analysing experimental data and presenting findings at group meetings and scientific conferences.</li>
<li>Collaborating with researchers across the PROPEL consortium and contributing to project deliverables, publications and future grant applications.</li>
</ul><p></p><h2 class="jobSectionHeader"><b>What we are looking for</b></h2>
<p></p><ul><li>PhD (or equivalent) in Bioengineering, Biotechnology, Synthetic Biology, Microbiology, Biochemistry or a related discipline.</li>
<li>Experience in molecular biology, microbial engineering or metabolic engineering.</li>
<li>Experience working with yeast or other microbial systems (desirable).</li>
<li>Knowledge of synthetic biology, genome engineering or fermentation processes.</li>
<li>Excellent communication and organisational skills.</li>
<li>Ability to work independently and collaboratively within an international research environment.</li>
