Northeast Delta Dental in Concord, NH is seeking to hire an onsite, full-time Senior Accountant to research and analyze accounting data and to provide financial reports to management. Our Senior Accountant serves as the primary liaison for financial and external audits and prepares tax returns.

The Senior Accountant position earns a competitive salary at $75,000 - $80,000/year, depending on experience. A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A SENIOR ACCOUNTANT: Assures compliance with financial legal requirements by assisting with the annual financial audit and other external audits, including the pension plan audit, SOC l & II audits and state insurance department audits.

Assists with the preparation of the annual budget and substantiates budget recommendations by assembling and summarizing account information and identifying trends. Provides supporting analysis for presentation to the Boards of Directors. Prepares periodic reports that compare budgeted costs to actual costs.

Prepares state insurance department financial reports and premium tax returns by collecting and analyzing appropriate data.

Assists in organizational compliance with federal tax return requirements by drafting IRS 990 tax financial returns for non-taxable entities. Prepares State Business Enterprise Tax Returns and DDPA Reports.

Responsible for NEDD Foundation Investment reconciliation and various NEDD Foundation filings. Assists with RTH and Subsidiaries Board Materials.

Prepares asset, liability and capital account entries by compiling and analyzing financial statements and information, and performing general ledger account reconciliations; prepares regulatory reports.

Documents financial transactions by preparing general journal entries and entering account information; maintains supporting schedules for various general ledger accounts.

Reviews general journal entries, investment schedules and reports produced by the Accountant.

Cross train on month-end routines, statutory filings and miscellaneous duties as needed.

Produces summarized financial status reports by collecting information, preparing financial statements, interpreting current results, and forecasting outcomes. Prepares financial reports for senior managers and to fulfill DDPA requirements.

Maintains accounting controls by outlining and implementing general accounting processes; documents information.

Improves the organization's accounting operations by analyzing current processes and recommending accounting procedure improvements.

QUALIFICATIONS FOR THIS ROLE: Insurance Industry Experience Preferred. A Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field, plus at least four years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience. Must have a thorough knowledge of accounting policies and practices and experience with computerized accounting software. Must have a valid driver's license.

WORK SCHEDULE FOR A SENIOR ACCOUNTANT: The typical work schedule for this position is Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. This position will work on-premises at our Concord, NH headquarters and hybrid when deemed appropriate by the manager at our Concord, NH headquarters.
