Position Overview

The Senior Accountant serves as the technical accounting lead for the bookkeeping team, ensuring all work is delivered accurately, efficiently, and on time. This is a client facing role that requires strong communication skills, an ownership mindset, and the ability to lead engagements from initial cleanup through ongoing financial management.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead accounting cleanup projects across multiple clients by identifying inefficiencies and implementing scalable improvements
• Meet with clients to review financials, provide insights, and address questions
• Scope projects, estimate timelines, and manage execution through completion
• Oversee and develop bookkeeping team members across both cleanup and ongoing workflows
• Maintain well organized, accurate accounting records and processes across all engagements
• Manage payroll processing, payroll tax setup, and sales tax compliance
• Oversee accounts receivable and accounts payable functions
• Utilize QuickBooks Online to maintain current and reliable financial data
• Prepare and review financial statements and related reports

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
• 5 or more years of accounting experience, preferably in a firm or multi client environment
• Proven experience leading cleanup projects, including scoping and timeline estimation
• Experience with payroll processing and sales tax compliance
• Strong understanding of accrual accounting
• Experience providing controllership level support, including budgeting, forecasting, and financial oversight
• Exposure to fractional or partial CFO responsibilities
• Ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities
• Strong client communication skills

Preferred Skills

• CPA or EA designation
• Experience with tools such as Keeper
• Strong analytical and problem solving skills
• High attention to detail
• Ability to balance hands on execution with strategic thinking
