Senior Construction Manager

Genesis Capital
(the “Company”) is one of the largest business purpose lenders in the country, focused on providing commercial real estate financing solutions to real estate developers who buy, renovate, and sell single-family and/or multi-family residential real estate. The Senior Construction Manager serves as a key liaison between Genesis Capital, its borrowers, and third‑party construction stakeholders. This role evaluates sponsor experience, monitors construction project progress, provides underwriting support, and assesses the overall health of the construction loan portfolio. The position blends fieldwork, relationship management, construction expertise, and risk assessment to ensure the success and stability of Genesis Capital’s construction lending platform.
Principal Duties:
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Sponsor Evaluation & Client Engagement
  • Conduct interviews with prospective sponsors to evaluate construction knowledge and experience.
  • Prepare detailed written summaries documenting sponsor capability and project history.
  • Analyze existing sponsor performance and prepare annual renewal assessments.
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for construction‑related questions from internal teams.
Construction Oversight & Site Visits
  • Conduct local site visits on active, high‑performing, or underperforming construction projects.
  • Travel across the U.S. to evaluate project sites as needed.
  • Perform mid‑construction reviews on loans across various channels and business lines.
  • Provide written reports summarizing observations, risks, and project status.
Underwriting & Portfolio Analysis
  • Underwrite a subset of monthly construction loans, including review of:
    • Budgets
    • Plans and specifications
    • Schedules
    • Feasibility and scope alignment
  • Approve construction loan draws when necessary.
  • Review construction budgets for adequacy and feasibility.
  • Analyze sponsor portfolios to assess performance trends and project risk levels.
  • Evaluate existing construction loans to provide a snapshot of portfolio health at any given time.
Risk Mitigation & Escalation Management
  • Review escalations from Fund Control related to construction completion status, discrepancies, or draw concerns.
  • Respond to construction‑related questions from Asset Underwriting team members.
  • Identify and communicate potential construction delays, cost overruns, or compliance risks.
  • Provide recommendations for remediation or risk mitigation.
Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree strongly preferred
  • 5+ years of experience in construction management, development, inspection, engineering, or related field.
  • Strong understanding of residential construction processes and lender expectations.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, sponsors, and deadlines simultaneously.
  • Strong communication skills and confidence interviewing construction sponsors.
  • Ability to analyze budgets, schedules, plans, and construction feasibility

Compensation Range:
$100,000-$120,000/annual
