An Overview of the Senior Cost Control Engineer
You will provide input and insight into all project delivery phases from inception to completion and be responsible for successfully delivering the cost control responsibility for the entire project. You will establish and manage a cost control system in order to support the PMT decision-making process and allow them to complete the project within the approved budget, working in collaboration with everyone, to ensure that the desired objectives are achieved and the proactive engagement with all colleagues
This is a mid-management leadership position that requires a professional proactive approach, leading by example in your collaborative style, being able to be part of a motivated high-performing team, and being able to manage relationships at all levels. You must have the skills required to interpret data, analyze results, think in a commercial context, communicate effectively with purpose, be able to manage multiple responsibilities most importantly have a demonstrable successful track record of experience.
Key Accountabilities:
The main responsibilities of this role

You will establish and manage a cost control system in order to support the PM decision-making process and allow him to complete the project within the approved budget

Create a cost awareness atmosphere among the Project Management Team

Prepare projects budget for awarded projects based on actual costs, estimation data, and contractual documents and standards within the costing manual.

Review project tender document estimation and escalate any irregularity.

Prepare monthly Cost Reports based on the actual project performance vs project budget.

Liaise with all internal teams to obtain the actual cost allocated to the project’s cost centre.

Review Cost Reports with internal stakeholders and align with the Project Team.

Monitor daily the project costs, reported metrics, and efficiencies e.g., sub-contractors, and materials purchased in line with the approved Project Budget.

Coordinate the risk management activities startup organising the first brainstorming and the qualitative / quantitative assessment of the identified risks and opportunities

Input into the monthly management reports e.g. overall project updates and delivery

Analyses project performance, and provide advice, commentary, and insight on actuals vs budget.

Input into the central costing database to ensure accurate metrics and information is updated.

Analyse and highlight any cost deviation/overrun/irregularity and escalate for review.

Review the Project Budget in the event of scope changes and amend as necessary.

Prepare project close-out cost report, review with all stakeholders, and share lessons learned with the Commercial Team for reference and future consideration.

Ensure compliance with all ESG, HSE & Quality policies.
To be successful in this role you must be able to demonstrate.

Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or other related engineering field.

5+ years’ experience in the domain of project management, project control, planning, and estimation, budgeting, and cost control.

Experienced in Earned Value Method in cost reporting.

Certified Cost Professional is an added advantage.

Excellent knowledge of planning/cost control techniques, methods, systems, standards, and software.

Industry Certifications in Project Management and Project Controls Computer literate.
