Senior Director, Integrated Messaging and Marketing, Office of Marketing Communication and Public Affairs

Job Purpose: The job holder will oversee integrated messaging and marketing efforts across the Marketing and Communications office. This role involves generating marketing content to establish the AUC brand, positioning and core messages across various platforms including, in print, online publications, social media, website, videos and promotional campaigns. He or She will manage diverse social media channels, marketing campaigns, market research, and AUC’s website top-tier landing pages, and profile on online directories. The role also includes writing marketing content that tells AUC’s story through a vivid, impactful and compelling narrative for various media based on market research and user testing.


Core Responsibilities:

● Content creation and brand alignment: Write compelling, quality content that captures the AUC brand voice and tone, tailored for relevant audiences and aligned with AUC branding and messages across multiple channels, including website, marketing campaigns, social media, Search Engine Optimization or Search Engine Marketing, and print, ensuring content contains sufficient keywords for search engine optimization

● Marketing communications strategy: Develop marketing communications strategy to increase

AUC’s brand visibility and positive sentiment across all audiences

● Campaign development and oversight: Develop and oversee comprehensive marketing campaign implementation, including timeline, budget, creative materials and copy, media buying, and others, guided by market research and testing, ensuring Return on Investment and Key Performance Indicators are achieved

● Performance reporting: Produce reports showing brand visibility, campaign impact, audience

engagement, and sentiment for integrated messaging and marketing campaigns

● Content consistency and compliance: Ensure all content is consistent and aligned with AUC core messages and strategic priorities across all channels

● Brand campaign execution: Develop and execute marketing brand campaigns across platforms to support AUC’s positioning

● Produce marketing copy for advertising campaigns, higher education-related topics, social media engaging campaigns, email marketing, AUC’s website top tier landing pages

● Lead brainstorming and collaboration with marketing communication teams, such as the digital comms, marketing and content and others, for new ideas and strategies on AUC publications and marketing content for on- and off-campus marketing campaigns

● Draft and edit assigned video scripts and content

● Interdepartmental coordination: Work with heads of other units in the area and across AUC to

ensure consistent messaging across all channels and means of communication

● Marketing Research Program Oversight: Oversee regular marketing research program on

University’s messaging and positioning, as well as specific activities and campaigns

● Research markets and industries to compare and create content and campaigns that are innovative and original

● Data transformation: Transform complex data into a much more understandable or user-friendly format tailored to relevant audience and aligned with AUC branding messaging and strategic priorities

● Content research and fact-checking: Research, brainstorm, interview sources, and organize

accurate facts on University-related topics

● Social Media Presence Oversight: Oversee AUC’s social media presence and ensure that AUC’s

social media channel strategy is consistent with AUC’s positioning, main messaging and content

pillars and coordinated with other AUC initiatives

● Ensure they work closely with agency and team colleagues and marcom office colleagues

● Comprehensive marketing research oversight: Oversee research efforts to align all marketing

activities with AUC’s positioning, main messaging, and content pillars, including market research, campaigns, SEM, video production, and website or online directory maintenance

● AUC’s top-tier main landing pages oversight: Oversee AUC’s top-tier main website landing pages to ensure they are updated and maintained in alignment with University messages and content pillar on a daily basis and coordinated with the web unit team

● Ensure they work closely with agency and team colleagues and marcom office colleagues

● Performance Measurement and Optimization: Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) for

integrated messaging initiatives and regularly track, analyze, and report on their effectiveness

● Utilize data-driven insights, e.g., engagement rates, website analytics, and conversion rates, to

continuously refine and optimize messaging strategies and content

● General Support: Performs other essential duties as required


Qualifications:

Education and Experience:

● Bachelor’s degree in journalism, digital journalism, communications, marketing communication or a related field required

● Master’s degree is a plus

● 10 to 12 years of professional experience in communications, marketing and video journalism and production

● Required experience includes content development, copywriting, and research across digital

platforms, with demonstrated ability to apply SEO principles and marketing strategies

● Familiarity with social media, SEM, and keyword optimization techniques

● Background may include work within large agencies or corporate environments


Skills:

● Writing and Content Development: Demonstrates excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills across varied styles and tones in English, with attention to grammar, consistency, and brand alignment

● Experienced in SEO writing and long-form content development, ensuring accuracy and adherence to editorial standards

● Research and Analysis Strong ability to conduct thorough research using multiple sources, fact- check content, and apply findings effectively across content types, marketing strategies, and brand messaging

● Digital Marketing and SEO: Experienced in social media, SEM, and digital content strategy

● Applies knowledge of keyword relevance, density, and SEO best practices to optimize visibility and engagement

● Project and Time Management: Able to manage multiple projects simultaneously, meet tight

deadlines, and prioritize tasks efficiently in fast-paced environments

● Leadership and Team Collaboration: Demonstrated ability to lead teams and foster a positive,

productive work culture

● Collaborates effectively across functions, aligning diverse brand strategies while maintaining a

team-oriented mindset

● Technical and Digital Proficiency: Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, Google Docs, and other

content tools

● Maintains strong organizational and communication skills with stakeholders at all levels

● Professionalism and Work Ethic: Adheres to organizational standards, policies, and style guides

● Known for a positive attitude, problem-solving ability, and commitment to high-quality work
