Senior Irrigation Engineer - Immediate Joiners

About this role:


Irrigation System Design & Planning

Design and develop efficient irrigation systems for landscaping projects, ensuring optimal water distribution.

Conduct hydraulic calculations to determine water flow, pressure, and pipe sizing.

Prepare detailed irrigation layouts, drawings, and specifications using AutoCAD or similar software.

Select appropriate irrigation equipment, including sprinklers, drip systems, valves, and controllers.

Ensure compliance with local regulations, environmental standards, and sustainability best practices.


Project Management & Execution

Oversee the installation, testing, and commissioning of irrigation systems.

Develop project timelines, budgets, and resource allocation plans for irrigation works.

Coordinate with landscape architects, contractors, suppliers, and government authorities to ensure smooth project execution.

Monitor progress and quality control of irrigation installations at project sites.

Ensure timely completion of projects while adhering to safety and quality standards.


Water Management & Sustainability

Implement water conservation techniques such as rainwater harvesting and recycled water usage.

Optimize irrigation schedules based on soil type, climate conditions, and plant water requirements.

Integrate smart irrigation technologies and automated control systems to enhance efficiency.

Conduct soil and water analysis to determine the best irrigation solutions for different landscapes.

Promote sustainable irrigation practices to minimize water wastage and environmental impact.


System Maintenance & Troubleshooting

Develop preventive maintenance schedules for irrigation systems.

Diagnose and resolve irrigation system failures, leaks, and performance issues.

Ensure the proper functioning of pumps, filters, valves, and controllers.

Train site teams and maintenance staff on irrigation system operations and best practices.

Keep up to date with the latest irrigation technologies and advancements in the industry.


Documentation & Compliance

Prepare technical reports, as-built drawings, and project documentation.

Ensure all irrigation systems comply with local authority requirements and environmental regulations.

Maintain records of water usage, efficiency reports, and maintenance logs.

Assist in preparing tenders, BOQs (Bill of Quantities), and cost estimates for irrigation projects.


Stakeholder Coordination & Team Leadership

Work closely with landscape designers, civil engineers, and environmental consultants.

Liaise with clients, government bodies, and regulatory agencies for project approvals.

Supervise junior engineers, irrigation technicians, and field staff to ensure adherence to project specifications.

Provide technical guidance and mentorship to team members.


Research & Innovation

Stay updated with new irrigation technologies, automation, and sustainability trends.

Recommend and implement innovative irrigation solutions to improve system performance.

Explore opportunities for alternative water sources such as greywater reuse and rainwater harvesting.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in one of the following fields:
  • Agricultural Engineering
  • Irrigation Engineering
  • 8 to 10 years of experience in irrigation engineering, landscape irrigation, or water resource management.
  • Proven track record in designing, installing, and maintaining irrigation systems for landscaping projects.
  • Irrigation System Design – Expertise in designing drip, sprinkler, and subsurface irrigation systems for landscaping projects.
  • Hydraulic & Water Flow Calculations – Strong understanding of pipe sizing, water pressure, pump selection, and flow rate calculations.
  • AutoCAD & GIS Mapping – Proficiency in AutoCAD, GIS, and other irrigation design software for system layouts and mapping.
  • Smart & Automated Irrigation Systems – Experience with sensor-based, weather-controlled, and IoT-enabled irrigation technologies.
  • Soil & Water Analysis – Ability to assess soil type, water retention, and plant water requirements for optimal irrigation efficiency.
  • Sustainability & Water Conservation – Knowledge of rainwater harvesting, greywater reuse, and LEED-certified irrigation systems.
  • Tendering & Cost Estimation – Experience in preparing BOQs, project bids, and cost estimates for irrigation projects.
  • Compliance & Regulations – Familiarity with local authority guidelines, environmental standards, and government regulations for irrigation.
  • Oversee installation teams, contractors, and subcontractors to ensure compliance with project specifications.
  • Capability to control project costs and optimize resources for cost-effective irrigation solutions.
  • Strong problem-solving skills to identify and resolve irrigation system failures.
