Senior Logistics Officer

Job Summary

The Senior Logistics Officer is responsible for coordinating and overseeing all logistical operations to support the organization’s needs. This includes managing shipment clearances, optimizing supply chain processes, ensuring timely and cost-effective deliveries, and tracking all inbound and outbound shipments. The role plays a critical part in maintaining operational efficiency and enhancing customer satisfaction.


Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee and manage logistics operations and assets to ensure timely, cost-effective delivery of goods.

  • Coordinate end-to-end shipment arrangements, including handling clearance procedures for inbound and outbound shipments.
  • Negotiate with logistics providers, shipping companies, and freight forwarders to secure competitive rates and service agreements.
  • Monitor and track the movement of materials and products, ensuring regular updates to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Develop logistics strategies, support plans, budgets, and operational timelines for new and ongoing activities.
  • Create and implement standard operating procedures (SOPs) to streamline logistics workflows and improve operational efficiency.
  • Generate accurate reports on material movements, logistics performance, and potential operational issues.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant company policies, regulations, and safety standards.
  • Communicate effectively with clients to meet logistics requirements and ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Identify training needs and support the development of logistics staff to maintain high performance standards.
  • Support HSE (Health, Safety, Environment) initiatives and contribute to a culture of safety and continuous improvement.


Required Knowledge & Skills

  • Strong knowledge of import/export documentation and customs procedures.
  • Experience in international shipping and logistics, with a strong understanding of global trade practices, documentation, and supply chain coordination. Also experienced in supporting logistics for construction projects, ensuring timely delivery of materials and equipment to project sites worldwide.
  • Solid understanding of inbound and outbound logistics operations.
  • Excellent communication skills, with experience in cross-cultural environments.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio).
  • Familiarity with ERP systems, preferably SAP.


Experience

  • Minimum 4 years of total work experience in logistics or supply chain, preferably within the construction industry.
  • Proven experience in international shipping and logistics, with a strong understanding of global trade practices, documentation, and supply chain coordination
  • At least 3 years in a relevant logistics role.
  • Experience in the GCC region (2 years preferred).


Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Logistics , Supply Chain Management , or a related field.
