Responsible for the end-to-end delivery, operation, and maintenance of passive network infrastructure, ensuring network availability, reliability, and adherence to SLAs across venues.

Key Accountabilities and Activities

Network Systems Delivery

• Lead the installation, termination, testing, and certification of UTP, FOC (single- and multi-core), and structured LAN cabling according to TIA/ISO standards and venue requirements.

• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on existing cabling systems.

• Use test and measurement tools (OTDR, power meter, Fluke testers) and document results for acceptance, handover, and audits.

• Conduct site surveys and prepare accurate reports, BOQs, and material lists for new installations, upgrades, and maintenance.

• Manage and reconcile inventory of passive network components to ensure timely availability for planned works.

• Design and implement structured cabling overlays for events, maintaining clear separation between base-build and overlay networks.

• Coordinate with active network teams for rack layout, patching plans, labeling schemes, and IDF/MDF readiness.

• Maintain and update network drawings (AutoCAD/Visio) and patching matrices reflecting as-built environments.

• Perform patching, dressing, and rack mounting of active devices, maintain patch cord hygiene, and provide L1 remote support under guidance of Network Engineers.

• Ensure compliance with HSE/permit-to-work requirements and maintain a clean and safe working environment.

Communication / Documentation

• Prepare technical documentation including site surveys, test reports, as-built drawings, patching matrices, and handover packs.

• Document incidents, root causes, and corrective actions to support continuous improvement.

• Communicate technical issues and work status to internal teams and non-technical stakeholders.

• Provide accurate material estimates, cable run details, and resource requirements for planning, budgeting, and procurement.

• Maintain up-to-date records in ticketing/work-order systems.

Problem Solving Skills

• Lead diagnosis and resolution of complex passive network issues such as cable faults, patching errors, fiber breaks, and performance degradation.

• Analyze recurring faults, identify root causes, and recommend practical long-term corrective actions.

• Suggest and help implement improved tools, labeling standards, testing procedures, and documentation practices.

• Provide on-site technical leadership during high-impact incidents or major events, coordinating with Network Engineers, vendors, and operations teams.

• Proactively identify potential risks and propose improvements to enhance network stability and maintainability.

Qualifications and Requirements

Knowledge and Experience

• 7–10 years of IT infrastructure/network support experience, with strong exposure to structured cabling, campus LAN, and data center environments.

• 3–5 years in a Senior Network Technician or equivalent role managing field teams, subcontractors, and multiple work orders.

• GCC / Gulf region experience preferred, ideally in large venues such as stadiums, airports, hospitals, campuses, or hospitality environments.

• Proven track record delivering projects under strict SLAs, event timelines, and HSE/permit-to-work regimes.

Education and Certifications

• Diploma in Computer Science, Electronics & Communication, Electrical, Telecommunications, or related discipline (mandatory).

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering/Technology preferred but not mandatory.

• Networking certifications such as CCNA, HCIA, CompTIA Network+, or equivalent highly desirable.

• Structured cabling certifications (e.g., BICSI Installer/Technician, manufacturer certifications like CommScope, Nexans, Leviton, or FOA CFOT) are a strong plus.

Job-Specific Technical Skills

• Expertise in passive cabling technologies including UTP, STP, fiber optic cabling, patch panels, LIUs, and structured LAN cabling systems.

• Ability to design, interpret, and review cabling layouts, rack elevations, and event overlay cabling plans.

• Proficient in cable testing and certification tools (Fluke DTX/DSX, OTDR, power meters, visual fault locators) and interpreting results.

• Hands-on experience in rack dressing, patch cord management, labeling standards, and maintaining workmanship in IDF/MDF/DC environments.

• Strong capability to prepare and validate BOQs, site inspection reports, material lists, and as-built documentation.

• Knowledge of structured cabling standards (TIA/EIA, ISO/IEC) and best practices for campus and data center environments.

• Demonstrated ability to lead technician teams or subcontractors, assign tasks, review work quality, and ensure adherence to SLAs, safety, and site procedures.

• Basic understanding of active network devices (switches, routers, wireless APs) for patching, port identification, and L1 troubleshooting under guidance.

• Expert in preparing BOQs, site inspection reports, technical drawings, and AutoCAD documentation.
